Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and qualified IGCSE English Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE English curriculum, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver engaging and student-centred English language and literature lessons.
The teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons that develop students' skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and literary analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective IGCSE English Language and English Literature lessons.
- Develop lesson plans in accordance with the Cambridge International Education curriculum.
- Teach and support students in English Language, English Literature, grammar, creative writing, academic writing, comprehension, and literary analysis.
- Prepare students for Cambridge IGCSE examinations and internal assessments.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback to support students' academic growth and achievement.
- Create an inclusive, interactive, and student-centred learning environment.
- Use differentiated teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Develop students' communication, critical thinking, analytical, and creative writing skills.
- Prepare worksheets, assessments, assignments, projects, and examination preparation materials.
- Maintain accurate academic records and prepare student progress reports.
- Communicate effectively with parents and participate in parent-teacher meetings.
- Collaborate with teachers, coordinators, and school leadership to support curriculum delivery.
- Participate actively in school events, professional development programmes, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- B.Ed., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IGCSE, Cambridge, IB, or international school.
- Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE English Language and/or English Literature is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) curriculum and assessment practices.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Experience in examination preparation and student assessment.
