Role Summary
As the Head of Business Development, you will drive strategic growth, market expansion, and revenue generation for Acelion’s intelligent energy storage products and Solar + BESS solutions. You will lead market penetration across Commercial & Industrial (C&I), Utility-Scale projects, and OEM/EPC partnerships.
The ideal candidate possesses deep commercial experience in the renewable energy/BESS domain, a strong network among IPPs, EPCs, and C&I buyers, and proven leadership in closing high-value energy storage contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute comprehensive market entry and revenue expansion strategies for Lithium-ion BESS, hybrid inverters, and EMS/SCADA solutions.
- Target and capture key opportunities in C&I energy optimization (peak shaving, diesel generator replacement, microgrids) and utility-scale grid integration.
- Achieve annual order-intake and revenue targets while maintaining gross margin guidelines.
- Identify, pitch to, and build long-term relationships with EPC contractors, IPPs, Renewable Developers, System Integrators, and C&I corporate clients.
- Negotiate and finalize high-value BESS solution sales contracts, PPAs, energy performance contracts, and strategic partnership agreements.
- Collaborate with internal Product & Engineering teams to align customer requirements with optimal battery sizing, hybrid architecture, and EMS capabilities.
- Oversee commercial bid management, RFP/RFQ submissions, and techno-commercial proposal drafting.
- Monitor Indian and regional clean energy policies, MNRE guidelines, CEA standards, grid tariffs, and BESS mandates to identify emerging market drivers.
- Capitalize on government tenders, subsidies, and energy storage mandates across states.
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing Business Development & Sales team.
- Provide continuous market feedback to Product R&D on pricing trends, competitor positioning, and emerging technology demands .
Required Candidate Profile
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Power Systems, or Energy Engineering. (MBA in Marketing / Strategy / Power Management is strongly preferred).
- Experience: 10 to 15+ years of total experience in commercial sales / business development within BESS, Solar PV, Inverters/Power Electronics, or Smart Grid Infrastructure.
- Track Record: Proven history of meeting revenue targets (>₹50 Cr+ ARR responsibility) and closing multi-megawatt BESS or Solar-plus-Storage deals.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of Lithium-ion battery chemistries (LFP/NMC), Battery Management Systems (BMS), EMS, and hybrid solar/storage topologies.
- Expertise in financial modeling for energy storage (ROI calculation, levelized cost of storage (LCOS), payback periods for industrial clients).
- Existing C-level relationships across developers, manufacturing hubs, industrial parks, and clean-tech ecosystem players.
- Exceptional communication, contract negotiation, and team building skills.
