Full job description

Job Summary

Karunya Christian School seeks a dedicated and organized Librarian to manage the school library and promote a culture of reading, research, and lifelong learning among students and staff. The Librarian will be responsible for maintaining library resources, supporting academic programs, and ensuring efficient library operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary Management

Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library.
Organize, classify, catalog, and maintain books, journals, magazines, and digital resources.
Maintain accurate records of library inventory and circulation.
Ensure proper shelving, preservation, and security of library materials.

Student & Staff Support

Assist students and teachers in locating and utilizing library resources.
Promote reading habits through book fairs, reading programs, and library activities.
Guide students in information literacy, research skills, and responsible use of resources.
Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum and classroom learning.

Resource Development

Identify and recommend books and educational resources based on curriculum requirements.
Coordinate procurement of new books and learning materials.
Maintain subscriptions to newspapers, magazines, and digital resources.

Administration & Compliance

Prepare periodic reports on library usage, inventory, and activities.
Manage library budget and procurement records as assigned.
Ensure library policies and procedures are followed.
Support accreditation and school audit requirements related to library resources.

Qualification & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Library Science (B.Lib.Sc.) is mandatory.
Master's Degree in Library Science (M.Lib.Sc.) preferred.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Librarian, preferably in a school environment.
Knowledge of library management software and digital cataloging systems.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
