We believe that while pregnancy often receives significant attention, many mothers are left to navigate feeding, recovery, emotional wellbeing, and family adjustment with limited support after birth.
Our mission is to create a structured, high-quality postpartum care model that combines clinical expertise with continuous guidance, helping mothers feel supported, informed, and confident throughout the first year after birth.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Lactation Consultant who brings a holistic approach to maternal care.
This role goes beyond breastfeeding support. The ideal candidate should be passionate about supporting mothers through the emotional, psychological, and practical realities of the postpartum period while building trusted, long-term relationships with families.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in maternal wellbeing, counseling, childbirth education, family support, or related areas alongside strong lactation expertise.
Key ResponsibilitiesLactation Support
- Conduct in-home and virtual lactation consultations.
- Assess and address common breastfeeding challenges, including latch issues, milk supply concerns, nipple pain, pumping, bottle introduction, and weaning.
- Develop personalized feeding plans based on each family's goals and circumstances.
- Support mothers through breastfeeding, mixed feeding, and pumping journeys.
- Provide evidence-based guidance throughout the postpartum period.
Maternal Wellbeing & Family Support
- Provide empathetic, non-judgmental support to mothers during the postpartum period.
- Identify emotional, psychological, and social factors affecting feeding and maternal wellbeing.
- Support mothers experiencing overwhelm, anxiety, loss of confidence, or adjustment challenges.
- Facilitate conversations around partner support, caregiving responsibilities, and family dynamics.
- Refer mothers to appropriate specialists when additional support is required.
Ongoing Postpartum Support
- Build ongoing relationships with mothers through structured follow-ups.
- Track progress, concerns, and outcomes across the postpartum journey.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of consultations, care plans, and follow-up recommendations.
- Collaborate with nutritionists, psychologists, pediatricians, physiotherapists, and other care providers within the Ooru ecosystem.
- Contribute to the development of care protocols and best practices.
Education & Community Engagement
- Conduct workshops, support groups, webinars, and educational sessions for mothers and families.
- Create evidence-based educational content related to breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and maternal wellbeing.
- Support community awareness initiatives around maternal and infant health.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in lactation consulting or maternal-infant care.
- Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC preferred or equivalent recognized certification).
- Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or a related healthcare field.
- Demonstrated experience working with postpartum mothers.
- Strong understanding of maternal and infant health.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Maternal mental health or postpartum counseling.
- Childbirth education.
- Family or parent counseling.
- Maternity hospital, NICU, pediatric, or community maternal health settings.
- Conducting workshops, group sessions, or educational programs for parents.
- Supporting complex lactation cases such as relactation, preterm infant feeding, or special feeding circumstances.

Pay: From ₹80,000.00 per month
