Job Summary
The Microbiologist is responsible for ensuring food safety and hygiene standards through microbiological testing, monitoring, and quality control activities. The role involves conducting laboratory analysis of food, water, environmental swabs, and other samples to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, airline catering standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological testing of food products, raw materials, water samples, ice, and environmental swabs.
- Monitor and verify hygiene and sanitation standards in production, storage, and service areas.
- Analyze test results and prepare microbiological reports.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, GHP, ISO 22000, FSSAI, and airline catering requirements.
- Investigate microbiological deviations, contamination issues, and non-conformities.
- Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain laboratory equipment, testing records, and calibration schedules.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and trend analysis.
- Support internal and external food safety audits.
- Provide food safety and hygiene training to operational staff.
- Maintain proper documentation and records as per regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with production, quality assurance, and hygiene teams to ensure food safety compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Microbiology, Food Microbiology,or a related field.
- Certification in HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems, or ISO 22000 is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, airline catering, hospitality, or food processing industries.
- Experience in microbiological testing and laboratory operations is preferred.
