Full job description

Job Purpose;

To provide skilled assistance during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, instruments, and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations within the Operation Theatre.

Responsibilities

* Prepare the Operation Theatre before surgery by arranging instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary equipment.

* Scrub, gown, and glove according to aseptic techniques before each procedure.

* Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile items during surgery.

* Ensure all instruments, equipment, and materials are properly counted before, during, and after procedures.

* Maintain strict aseptic and infection control practices throughout surgical procedures.

* Check functionality and sterility of instruments and equipment prior to surgery.

* Handle surgical specimens as per protocol and ensure proper labeling and documentation.

* Coordinate with circulating nurses and anesthesia teams for smooth operation flow.

* Clean, sterilize, and store instruments and equipment after use as per hospital policy.

* Record surgical details and assist in maintaining OT registers and documentation.

* Participate in emergency and elective surgeries as scheduled.

* Report any malfunctioning equipment or safety concerns to the OT in-charge immediately.

Educational Qualification (UG/PG/Doctorate):

BSc Nursing, MSc Nursing, ANM Nursing, GNM Nursing, and Diploma in Nursing can apply.
Mandatory-Kerala Nursing Council Certificate*
Minimum 1 year of experience in OT preferred (Freshers can be considered for trainee role)
