We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Engineer / Technical Consultant with 8 – 10 years of experience in managing, maintaining, and optimizing SAP system landscapes. As part of the Core ERP team within Digital Services, this role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments. The Basis Engineer will collaborate closely with AMS partners, infrastructure teams, and cross-functional domain experts to deliver efficient, secure, and high-performing systems. This position provides a great opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, system modernization, and the upcoming S/4HANA transformation journey.

Digital Services is the run organization within Digital, responsible for the day-to-day operations of our global application and technology landscape. Beyond ensuring business continuity, the team drives continuous improvement in efficiency, effectiveness, and service quality, working closely with Vendor Management, IT Procurement, and Legal.
As an orchestration capability, Digital Services manages and governs services across Application Services and Technology Services, ensuring that operations, suppliers, and projects function as one integrated ecosystem. The function follows ITIL best practices, focusing on end-to-end service lifecycle management — from service design and transition to operation and improvement.
Each service domain is led by a Service Owner, accountable for service delivery, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management in close alignment with Product Owners and business stakeholders.
The SAP Basis Engineer / Technical Consultant will be a key member of the Core ERP (Digital Services) team, responsible for the administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of SAP systems across ECC and S/4HANA environments. The role ensures high system availability, optimal performance, and compliance with corporate security and audit standards. It requires close collaboration with Application and Infrastructure partners within the Digital Services AMS model to ensure seamless operations and service delivery. The consultant is expected to proactively drive root cause analysis (RCA) and resolution for infrastructure-related issues using strong technical and analytical expertise. Additionally, this role will work closely with cross-functional teams across different ECC domains and integrated systems to ensure end-to-end operational stability and performance consistency.

System Administration & Operations

Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of SAP ECC and S/4HANA systems.

Ensure system uptime, stability, and performance in coordination with AMS, Infrastructure partners, and cross-functional teams.

Manage system installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.

Implement and manage backup, restore, and archiving strategies for SAP systems.

Performance Optimization & Capacity Management

Conduct system sizing, capacity planning, and memory optimization for ECC and HANA environments.

Monitor database growth, system utilization, and performance trends to identify improvement opportunities.

Apply best practices in performance tuning, parameter optimization, and proactive resource management.

Security, Compliance & Reliability

Implement and maintain SAP security settings in alignment with corporate IT standards.

Support audit and compliance activities by ensuring appropriate system configuration and documentation.

Collaborate with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to maintain secure, compliant, and resilient systems.

S/4HANA Transformation & Continuous Improvement

Support the transition from ECC to S/4HANA by validating system readiness, sizing, and technical compatibility.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency.

Stay updated with the latest SAP technologies, patches, and best practices to ensure systems are future-ready.

Collaboration & Governance

Work closely with Service Owners, Product Owners, AMS, and Infrastructure partners to align operational priorities, SLAs, and ensure integrated delivery across the SAP landscape.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across various ECC domains and systems to ensure seamless coordination and issue resolution.

Lead RCA and resolution efforts for infrastructure-related incidents, ensuring timely closure and preventive measures.

Provide technical expertise during project planning, go-live activities, and post-implementation support.

8 to 10 years of hands-on SAP Basis experience supporting ECC and/or S/4HANA systems.

Strong knowledge of SAP system administration, transport management, and database management (HANA, Oracle, or MS SQL).

Experience with system sizing, performance tuning, memory utilization, and archiving.

Understanding of SAP landscapes, client strategy, and integration points.

Knowledge of ITIL service management processes (incident, change, problem).

Experience in system refresh, backup/restore, and troubleshooting across environments.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional global teams.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering

Experience in managing hybrid cloud SAP environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

Exposure to Solution Manager, CHARM, and monitoring tools (e.g., SAP Focused Run, EarlyWatch).

SAP certification in Basis or HANA administration.

Experience with automation tools for system monitoring and performance optimization.

ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent service management knowledge.
