Position Overview
The Systems Analysis Senior Analyst supports Healthcare Finance IT applications by independently performing complex analysis, requirements definition, and system documentation activities. This role works with business partners and technical teams to understand business processes, translate requirements into functional and system specifications, and support solution implementation across the application lifecycle. The Senior Analyst applies strong analytical judgment to moderately complex healthcare finance systems and data flows, supports system enhancements and production issue resolution, and ensures solutions align with established financial controls, regulatory requirements, and technology standards. This position is an experienced individual contributor role, requiring minimal supervision while operating within defined processes, standards, and architectural frameworks.
This role is critical to ensuring Healthcare Finance IT applications accurately support financial operations and regulatory reporting by translating complex business requirements into clear system specifications. This role helps maintain data integrity, reduce operational risk, and support reliable financial outcomes.
Responsibilities
Lead delivery of IT scope for assigned projects and applications.
Lead the review of business requirements and work closely with business partners to complete detailed business requirement documentation to reduce ambiguity.
Clearly define systems work scope and objectives based on business requirements.
Clearly understand the business problem and business value of requirements, understanding the minimal viable product that meets business need.
Provide comprehensive consultation to business and IT management at the highest technical level through all phases of the application development life cycle.
Develop and maintain documentation of system processes for assigned applications and/or projects.
Work closely with business and IT management to identify application development solutions, new applications or modifications to existing programs, capability to reuse existing code, integration of purchased solutions or a combination there of and the appropriate software development methodology alternatives.
Possess in depth professional knowledge and subject matter expertise in business process and technology components of assigned applications; maintain technical and functional expertise.
Consistently demonstrate the ability to work independently and communicate questions and concerns of business and technical design.
Research, evaluate and estimate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution that addresses the business requirement.
Facilitate and translate business requirements into systems functional specifications and system design specifications.
Provide systems expertise to system users, business partners, and other internal/external customers including trouble shooting issues and identifying and correcting inefficiencies.
Assist Enterprise and Application Architecture with business and technical knowledge of projects and strategy/roadmaps.
Ability to influence others within and across business and IT functions.
Provide constructive feedback to business and IT partners.
Provide coaching and guidance to resources in the Advisor and Senior Advisor role.
Provide input to project and system test strategies and test plans.
Participate in test evidence walkthroughs.
Required Skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence business and IT partners.
Solid understanding of Systems Analyst roles, responsibilities, and SDLC processes.
Experience reviewing business requirements, functional specifications, and system design documentation.
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Knowledge of QA processes, testing approaches, and defect management.
Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Visio).
Working knowledge of relational database concepts and reporting tools.
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
3–5 years of experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Developer, or related role.
Desired Experience
Experience with Oracle databases, TOAD, and reporting tools such as OBIEE.
Exposure to midrange or mainframe systems.
Experience supporting financial accounting or financial reporting systems.
Healthcare or regulated industry experience.
Prior experience supporting complex, cross‑functional application ecosystems.
