Quality Manager – GIS Substation Projects
Location: Pune / Project Sites

Experience: 10+ Years (Minimum 5 Years in GIS Substation Projects)
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for high-voltage GIS Substation projects. The ideal candidate will establish and drive the Quality Management System (QMS), ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards, lead quality teams across multiple project sites, and work closely with clients, consultants, EPC contractors, and vendors to deliver projects with the highest quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management System (QMS)
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Prepare and review Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and quality procedures.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, customer, and company quality requirements.
- Define project quality objectives and drive continual improvement initiatives.
Project Quality Control
Oversee QA/QC activities for GIS Substation projects, including:
- GIS Equipment Installation
- Power Transformer Installation
- Bus Duct Installation
- Control & Relay Panels
- Cable Laying & Termination
- Earthing Systems
- Structure Erection
- Switchyard Works
- Testing & Commissioning
- Monitor site inspections, testing activities, and quality documentation.
- Ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor Quality Engineers, Site Quality Controllers, and Inspectors.
- Allocate responsibilities, review team performance, and conduct regular quality meetings.
- Develop training and competency enhancement programs for quality personnel.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure complete compliance with customer quality requirements.
- Attend client quality meetings and resolve quality-related observations.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, EPC contractors, and project teams.
- Prepare project quality reports and compliance documentation.
Audit & Compliance
- Plan and conduct Internal Quality Audits.
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certification audits.
- Lead customer and vendor quality audits.
- Monitor closure of audit findings and Non-Conformities (NCs).
Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement
- Manage the NCR process and ensure timely closure.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis using:
- 5 Why Analysis
- Fishbone Diagram
- Pareto Analysis
- Implement and monitor Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Documentation & Quality Records
- Review and approve quality documents, including:
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Quality Plans
- Method Statements
- Inspection Reports
- Test Reports
- Quality Records
- Maintain project quality dossiers and ensure document traceability.
Site Surveillance
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship quality.
- Ensure measuring instruments are calibrated and compliant.
- Monitor implementation of approved quality procedures.
Performance Monitoring
Track and analyze quality KPIs, including:
- Customer Complaints
- NCR Closure Rate
- Audit Compliance Score
- Inspection Pass Rate
- Rework Percentage
- Supplier Performance
- Project Quality Index
- Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
Risk Management
- Identify quality risks across projects.
- Develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Conduct quality risk assessments and monitor effectiveness.
Required Skills & Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018
- Knowledge of IEC and IS Standards
- Expertise in GIS Substation Quality Management
- Experience in HV Testing and Commissioning
- Relay & Protection Systems
