Position: Chief Scaling Officer
Location: Mumbai
This is a full-time work-from-office role.
Purpose of the Role:
- To translate the organisation's vision into nationwide execution by building the organisational capability, systems, and leadership infrastructure required for sustainable growth.
- To evolve the flagship program into a high-performing institution that drives innovation and improves educational outcomes for children with intellectual disabilities.
- To strengthen critical government and institutional partnerships to secure large-scale impact and drive systemic change.
Role & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for the implementation and growth of the program by translating the Foundation's vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
- Working closely with the CEO and Strategy Advisor, contribute to the continuous evolution of the initiative by drawing on implementation learning, emerging opportunities, sector developments, and evidence. Develop annual and multi-year implementation plans that support sustainable growth while ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand the program through government partnerships, institutional collaborations, and innovative implementation models.
Programme Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Lead the overall implementation of the program across multiple geographies, ensuring high-quality delivery, operational excellence, and measurable impact.
- Develop robust implementation systems, governance structures, operating procedures, quality assurance mechanisms, and performance review processes that enable effective programme delivery at scale.
- Ensure continuous monitoring of programme performance, proactively identify implementation challenges, and lead timely course correction to strengthen programme effectiveness.
- Drive a culture of execution excellence while balancing innovation with operational discipline.
Government & Strategic Partnerships
- Build and nurture long-term partnerships with State and Central Governments, educational institutions, technical agencies, and other strategic partners that strengthen implementation and institutionalisation of the prograam model.
- Represent the Foundation in relevant government forums, technical working groups, conferences, and sector platforms, positioning the program as a trusted partner for strengthening educational outcomes for children with intellectual disabilities.
- Support the development of collaborative partnerships that contribute to broader systems change and ecosystem strengthening.
Organisational Leadership & Capability Building
- Build and lead a high-performing organisation capable of delivering impact at scale.
- Develop organisational structures, leadership capacity, operating models, governance systems, and performance management processes that enable sustainable growth.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop future leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and inclusion.
- Strengthen institutional capability by ensuring that the organisation becomes increasingly resilient, adaptive, and less dependent on individual leaders.
Organisational Effectiveness
- Ensure that the organisational capabilities required for scale—including programme operations, training and capacity building, technology, monitoring and evaluation, finance, communications, and people systems—are effectively aligned to support programme delivery.
- Work collaboratively with functional leaders to strengthen organisational systems, improve coordination across teams, promote evidence-informed decision-making, and build efficient processes that enable sustainable growth.
- Drive continuous improvement across the organisation by strengthening planning, review mechanisms, operational governance, and organisational learning.
Innovation, Learning & Sector Engagement
- Promote a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement across the initiative.
- Support the documentation and dissemination of implementation learnings, best practices, and organisational knowledge that strengthen programme quality and future growth.
- Represent the program in relevant national and international forums and contribute to sector-wide efforts that advance educational outcomes and systems strengthening for children with intellectual disabilities.
Requirements:
Qualification:
- A postgraduation degree in Education, Public Policy, Development Studies, Public Administration, Management, Special Education, or a related field.
- Additional qualifications in organisational leadership, public systems, business management, or disability studies will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 15+ years progressively responsible leadership experience in education, development, public systems, or the social impact sector, including substantial experience leading large-scale programmes, organisational growth, or systems transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience working with government systems, building strategic partnerships, and leading multidisciplinary teams is essential.
- Experience in scaling programmes through public systems or institutional partnerships will be highly valued.
- Experience working across diverse geographies will be an advantage.
- Experience in building organisations, developing leaders, strengthening operational systems, managing complexity, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
