DESCRIPTION

As a Principal Software Engineer, you are a trusted part of the technical leadership for bringing Alexa+ to millions of International customers in their languages and countries such that it exceeds local customers expectations. You bring business and industry context to the technology and engineering decisions and drive innovation to make Alexa+ Architecture (both runtime and offline) truly global.

You solicit differing views across the organization and are willing to change your mind as you learn more. Your artifacts are exemplary and often used as reference across organization.

You are a hands-on engineering leader. Your solutions are exemplary in terms of architectural design, clarity, scalability, efficiency, and extensibility. You tackle intrinsically hard problems, acquiring expertise as needed. You decompose complex problems into straightforward solutions.

You amplify your impact by enabling innovation within your organization. You probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding. You align teams toward coherent strategies. You educate, drive state of the art approaches, the latest technologies, and trends.

You help guide the career growth of other engineers and scientists by mentoring and play a significant role in hiring and developing leaders.

Key job responsibilities

Lead Alexa International Tech org's technical direction, making critical decisions on architecture, infrastructure, and systems design for optimal performance, scalability, resilience and access patterns.
Drive innovation in Gen AI based Alexa+ architectures (both runtime and offline systems)
Design and implement scalable solutions to org's technical initiatives
Architect and build large-scale, distributed systems that integrate complex datasets and support different access patterns.
Mentor and inspire a team of skilled engineers and scientists, fostering technical and professional growth
Collaborate across Alexa and Amazon to align technical vision and priorities, influencing decisions at senior levels.
Define best practices for system architecture and engineering processes, maintaining high standards for software quality and operational excellence
Lead engineering efforts that directly enhance customer experiences and business outcomes through Alexa+ and GenAI powered services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of engineering experience
5+ years of engineering team management experience
10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience partnering with product and program management teams
Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
