Full job description

1] POSITION SUMMARY:

The Junior Accountant will support the finance and accounts team by performing accurate data entry, reconciling bank statements, preparing remittance documents, maintaining Excel records, and managing both physical and digital filing systems.

This role is essential to ensure smooth financial operations, accurate record-keeping, and timely reporting. It is suitable for detail-oriented individuals seeking to build their accounting career within a shipping consultancy environment.

2] KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Ø Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

Ø Proficiency in Tally ERP 9 / Tally Prime and Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, charts).

Ø Solid understanding of accounting principles, banking procedures, and internal controls.

Ø Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.

Ø Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external interactions.

Ø Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the finance team.

Ø High degree of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in handling financial data.

Ø Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure when required.

3] KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Data Entry and Accounting Management

Ø Performs accurate and timely data entry in Tally accounting software.

Ø Ensures all financial entries are properly coded and reconciled according to internal guidelines.

b. Excel Management

Ø Maintains and updates Excel sheets for all company credit card transactions.

Ø Prepares and manages any additional Excel-based reports as required by management.

c. Banking Transactions

Ø Prepares documentation for bank inward and outward remittances.

Ø Regularly updates and reconciles all bank statements to ensure accuracy.

d. Documentation and Filing

Ø Organizes and maintains both physical and digital filing systems for all accounting records.

Ø Ensures all documents are easily accessible for audits, statutory requirements, or management review.

e. Additional Support

Ø Assists senior accountants in reconciliations, tax filings, and compliance-related activities.

Ø Provides support for ad hoc finance-related tasks as assigned by the Accounts Manager.

Ø Contributes to improving financial processes and internal control procedures.

4] PERFORMANCE MATRICS

Ø Accuracy and timeliness of data entry in Tally and Excel.

Ø Correct and up-to-date reconciliation of bank statements.

Ø Proper preparation and documentation of bank remittances.

Ø Organization and maintenance of physical and digital accounting records.

Ø Effective support to senior accountants and contribution to smooth financial operations.

Pay: ₹9,903.15 - ₹12,000.00 per month
