Roles and Responsibility

Title: Operations Team Lead

Reports to: Operations Manager

Department: Managed Solutions Services

ROLE SNAPSHOT

The Operations Team Lead provides strategic leadership to Fortra’s Security Operations group and Managed Services teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, ensuring our analysts stay ahead of an evolving threat landscape through proactive coaching and professional development. This role includes direct reports, scaling analyst performance and driving improvements. By monitoring and improving detection results, response times, and SLA compliance, you will bridge the gap between operations and security value.

KEY DUTIES

Service Operations & Integrity

Understand operations framework and all relevant SLOs/SLAs applied to the detection, monitoring and mitigation of service results.
Govern team performance and accountability, maintain incident lifecycle, drive security objectives and produce the as much value from tool and teams.
Track and evaluate tool and team performance, identifying trends to support operational improvements.

Process Development & Optimization

Define and document workflows, checklists, and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability.
Identify operational gaps to improve detection results, response times and overall incident lifecycle.

Leadership & Collaboration

Provide direct people leadership for the Security Operations team, including mentoring, coaching, and supporting team members in service delivery.
Manage workload distribution, performance expectations, evaluations, and operational alignment for direct reports as part of leadership responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & SUCCESS METRICS

3+ years in security operations + experience in email security.
Hands-on experience with DRP / brand protection products & services.
Strong understanding of security architecture, log ingestion, and API-based integrations.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and identity solutions (Okta, Azure AD).
Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
Proven leadership skills.

Knowledge of email headers, data points, email scams, fraud, social engineering, etc.
Knowledge of IP subnetting, WHOIS, OSINT / DNS tools, zone files, TLD’s, HTTP, SMPT, etc.
