Job Description: Mid-Level Accountant

Position: Mid-Level AccountantLocation: Kolkata (Work from Office)Experience: Minimum 5 YearsEmployment Type: Full-TimeContract: Minimum 2-Year Commitment Required

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive Accountant @ Suncorp International LLP to manage the company's day-to-day accounting, statutory compliance, taxation, and financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently, taking ownership of financial processes, and ensuring timely statutory compliance while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

This role is best suited for someone who is looking for long-term stability and is willing to commit to growing with the organization.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain complete books of accounts using Tally Prime (Tally Pro).
Record and reconcile day-to-day accounting transactions.
Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Prepare bank reconciliations and reconcile ledgers regularly.
Maintain cash books, journals, and general ledger.
Monitor outstanding receivables and coordinate with internal teams for follow-ups.
Ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records and supporting documentation.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

Prepare and file GST Returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and other applicable returns).
Handle TDS computation, deduction, return filing, and reconciliation.
Manage ESI, PF, and Professional Tax compliance.
Ensure timely payment of statutory dues.
Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and government authorities whenever required.
Assist in statutory, tax, and internal audits.

Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly MIS reports and financial summaries.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Generate reports from Tally for management review.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Banking & Administration

Handle routine banking transactions and reconciliations.
Coordinate with banks for account-related matters and documentation.
Maintain vendor records and process payments.
Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of financial documents.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com) or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Tally Prime (Tally ERP).
Sound knowledge of GST, TDS, ESI, PF, Professional Tax, and statutory compliance.
Good understanding of Indian Accounting Standards and taxation procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas, MIS reporting).
Experience in bank reconciliations, ledger scrutiny, and finalization of accounts.
Ability to coordinate with auditors and tax consultants.
