Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Valves Business & Sourcing Manager who can independently manage and develop the company's complete industrial valve business.
The role will cover business development, technical product understanding, customer requirement analysis, sourcing, supplier development, customized valve procurement, commercial negotiation, purchasing, quality coordination and order execution.
The candidate must be able to understand what the customer requires, identify the correct valve/product, source it from the right manufacturer, negotiate commercially, ensure compliance with company/customer standards and manage the order through delivery.
1. PRODUCT PORTFOLIO
The candidate should have strong working knowledge of the following valve categories and their major variants:
A. BALL VALVES
B. BUTTERFLY VALVES
C. GATE VALVES
D. GLOBE VALVES
E. CHECK VALVES
F. OTHER / SPECIAL VALVES
The candidate should also be capable of identifying sourcing requirements for additional valve categories as demanded by customers.
The exact product portfolio will be determined by the company's approved product range and customer requirements.
2. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Develop new customers and business opportunities for the complete valve portfolio.
- Identify industries, EPC contractors, OEMs, distributors and end users requiring industrial valves.
- Generate and follow up on enquiries.
- Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate valve types.
- Prepare technical-commercial quotations.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and commercial conditions.
- Convert enquiries into orders while maintaining target margins.
- Develop repeat business with existing customers.
- Build long-term relationships with key accounts.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide regular business forecasts.
3. CUSTOMER REQUIREMENT & TECHNICAL UNDERSTANDING
The candidate must be able to read and understand customer requirements including:
- Valve type
- Valve size
- Pressure class
- End connection
- Body material
- Trim material
- Seat material
- Stem material
- Operating temperature
- Media/service
- Pressure and temperature conditions
- Face-to-face dimensions
- Actuation requirements
- Applicable standards

The candidate should be capable of converting customer requirements into a clear RFQ/specification for suppliers.
4. SOURCING & VENDOR DEVELOPMENT
- Identify suitable manufacturers and suppliers for different valve categories.
- Develop and maintain an approved supplier network.
- Source standard as well as customized valves.
- Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and conduct technical-commercial comparisons.
- Evaluate suppliers based on:
- Price
- Quality
- Manufacturing capability
- Certifications
- Lead time
- Production capacity
- Documentation
- Reliability
- Negotiate supplier pricing and commercial terms.
- Develop alternate suppliers for critical products.
- Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations.
- Resolve supplier quality and delivery issues.
5. CUSTOMIZED VALVE SOURCING
A key responsibility will be handling non-standard and customized valve requirements.
The candidate will:
- Understand customer-specific requirements.
- Identify technically capable manufacturers.
- Prepare detailed RFQs.
- Obtain technical drawings and datasheets.
- Coordinate engineering clarifications.
- Review supplier technical offers.
- Compare customized solutions.
- Negotiate development/tooling/customization costs.
- Ensure the final product meets customer specifications.
- Coordinate approvals between customer, supplier and internal teams.
6. PURCHASING & PROCUREMENT
- Convert confirmed sales orders into purchase requirements.
- Issue and manage purchase orders.
- Ensure purchases are made only against approved specifications and standards.
- Negotiate best possible purchase price.
- Monitor supplier production.
- Track manufacturing and delivery schedules.
- Expedite delayed orders.
- Coordinate inspection and testing.
- Ensure all required quality documents are received.
- Coordinate logistics and dispatch.
- Maintain proper purchasing records.
- Support inventory planning for standard/high-moving valves.
7. QUALITY & STANDARDS
The candidate must ensure sourced valves comply with applicable company, customer and international standards.
Working knowledge of relevant standards such as:
- API
- ASME
- ASTM
- ISO
- MSS
- EN
- DIN
- BS
- NACE / sour-service requirements where applicable
The candidate should coordinate:
- Material Test Certificates
- Hydrostatic testing
- Pneumatic testing
- Seat testing
- Functional testing
- Inspection & Test Plans
- Third-party inspection
- Dimensional inspection
- Pressure testing
- Certificates and compliance documentation
Any deviation from approved specifications must be identified and approved before proceeding.
8. ORDER EXECUTION
Own the complete commercial and operational cycle:
Enquiry → Technical Evaluation → Supplier RFQ → Costing → Quotation → Customer Negotiation → Order → Purchase → Manufacturing → Inspection → Documentation → Dispatch → Invoicing → Collection
Coordinate closely with:

The candidate must proactively identify delivery, quality, commercial or technical risks before they become customer problems.
9. MARKET & COMPETITOR DEVELOPMENT
- Track competing valve manufacturers and brands.
- Monitor competitor pricing and product ranges.
- Identify gaps in the company's valve portfolio.
- Identify new valve products that should be added.
- Study market demand across:
- Oil & Gas
- Petrochemical
- Chemical

- Water & Wastewater

- Pharmaceuticals

- EPC projects
- General process industries
- Identify new suppliers and manufacturing partners.

10. COMMERCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining healthy margins through:

11. REQUIRED EXPERIENCEEducation
- Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Procurement, Sales or related field.
