Role Overview: Strong implementation experience in cryptography, digital signatures, authentication, and security architecture is the core requirement for this role. As the Head of Cryptography & Cybersecurity Engineering, you will define and lead the architecture for trusted digital identity, credentialing, cryptographic systems, and security infrastructure powering the platform. Candidates must bring hands-on implementation experience working on large-scale government or enterprise identity systems. Candidates must have a deep working knowledge of how large-scale government identity platforms such as Aadhaar or DigiLocker function. You will build secure and interoperable identity infrastructure aligned with India's Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem including Aadhaar, DigiLocker, eKYC, and future verifiable credential frameworks. This role is a part of 0-to-1 vertical build, The person joining should be comfortable with ambiguity, high ownership, rapid iteration, hands-on execution, team building and periods of high intensity work during the early set up phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design enterprise digital identity architecture covering authentication, authorization, credential issuance, and consent management.

Define trust and credential issuance frameworks aligned to W3C Verifiable Credentials and DID standards.

Architect integrations with Indian DPI stack: Aadhaar, DigiLocker, eKYC, eSign, and ONDC-compatible identity layers.

Define authentication and authorization models: OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, and token-based identity flows.

Design PKI and cryptographic trust infrastructure: CA design, key management, certificate lifecycle, HSM integration.

Evaluate and implement blockchain and immutable trust mechanisms for credential anchoring and audit trails.

Ensure compliance with Indian identity and privacy regulations: DPDP Act, Aadhaar Act, IT Act.

Guide identity interoperability across multiple platforms, partners, and government systems.

Design privacy-preserving credential mechanisms: selective disclosure, minimal data presentation, and consent-based sharing.

Define secure, scalable, and interoperable trust frameworks suitable for government-scale deployments.

Lead architecture decisions across the identity stack and mentor engineering teams on cryptography and DID best practices.
Must-have skills:
- Strong experience designing and implementing Digital Identity and Credential Management platforms

Deep understanding of Decentralized Identity (DID) and Verifiable Credentials ecosystems

Hands-on experience with credential issuance, verification, revocation, and interoperability frameworks

Strong implementation experience in cryptography, digital signatures, authentication, and security architecture

Understanding of privacy-preserving identity systems and selective disclosure mechanisms

Experience integrating identity solutions with large-scale government, enterprise, or public digital platforms

Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, networking, and system architecture

Ability to design secure, scalable, and interoperable trust frameworks

Experience leading architecture decisions and mentoring engineering teams

Understanding of applicable Indian laws and standards is preferred
Qualifications:
- B.Tech / MTech / MS in CS, or equivalent.
