Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Universal Design, Interior Design, Design Engineering, or related design disciplines.
Preferred Institutes: NID, NIFT, IIT Design Programs, and internationally reputed design schools.
Experience
- 10–14 years of experience in product design, industrial design, furniture design, interior design, or luxury product development.
- Strong experience in managing complex product development projects from concept to production.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material applications, and luxury craftsmanship.
- Ability to balance creativity with execution, technical detailing, and operational leadership.
- Experience in building systems, processes, and scalable product development frameworks is essential.
Job Location: This position is based in Jaipur, with occasional travel required.

Job Requirements and Skills:
Position Objective-
We are seeking a creative and hands-on chief designer to lead the design philosophy and product development of Trunks Company. This is primarily a product design leadership role focused on conceptualizing, designing, executing, and evolving Trunks Company's product portfolio: trunks, collectible objects, travel, and future lifestyle categories. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional design sensibility with strong material understanding, engineering awareness, and the ability to create authentic original products that balance aesthetics, innovation, functionality, craftsmanship, and innovation. As a member of the creative leadership team, the chief designer will also contribute to exhibitions, installations, retail experiences, brand storytelling, and future creative direction initiatives. Execution will be the key as design is happening through AI.
The role allocation will be:
- 50% Designing & Planning: Product conceptualization, design development, technical detailing, project planning, and product roadmaps to ensure all products align with the brand vision, craftsmanship standards, and business objectives.
- 50% Product Execution: End-to-end execution, manufacturing feasibility, cross-functional coordination, and timely product delivery
Job Skills -
1. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Rhino/3Ds Max, or equivalent visualization tools.
2. Understanding of Ergonomics & Functionality & Design
3. Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, construction techniques, and furniture detailing.
4. Ability to lead cross-functional teams across design, engineering, production, and external consultants.
5. Strong experience in project planning, budgeting, cost optimization, and vendor management.
6. Excellent presentation, stakeholder management, and design communication skills.

Major responsibilities:
1. Product Design & Development (Primary Responsibility)
- Lead the end-to-end development and execution of luxury trunks, collectible trunks, and collectible objects from concept approval to final production.
- Translate the founder's vision into technically feasible, commercially viable, and production-ready products.
- Develop detailed product specifications, technical drawings, construction details, and execution plans.
- Create elevated versions of existing products by introducing new materials, lighting integration, hardware innovations, and industrial detailing.
- Conceptualize and develop new product categories aligned with the brand's future growth plans.
- Drive product refinement through prototyping, testing, and iterative improvements.
2. Product Planning & Execution
- Establish systems, processes, and structured workflows for product development from ideation to launch.
- Own project timelines, milestones, and execution calendars to ensure timely delivery.
- Build product development frameworks and ensure seamless coordination across teams.
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve technical, design, and production challenges.
- Conduct regular product reviews and execution checkpoints to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure every product moves efficiently from design intent to final execution without compromising craftsmanship.
3. Material & Technical Expertise
Possess deep expertise in at least 2 out of the following 4 material categories:
o Leather
o Metal

Develop advanced knowledge of hardware systems, mechanisms, structural detailing, and luxury construction techniques.- Work across wood, leather, metal, stone, fabrics, and mixed-material applications.
- Explore innovative materials, finishes, and execution techniques to enhance product functionality and aesthetics.
- Ensure products meet structural, functional, and luxury quality standards before production approval.
4. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary design and product development team.
- Create accountability systems and structured review mechanisms.
- Drive collaboration between design, engineering, production, sourcing, and operations teams.
- Act as the key bridge between the founder's vision and execution teams.
- Ensure clear communication of priorities, deliverables, and timelines across all stakeholders.
