Job Description: Director, Information Technology (Leave Solutions)
Location: Gurugram/ Noida/ Chennai – Global Capability Center
Reporting To: Senior Director, Information Technology
Direct Reports: Managers and Architects overseeing teams of 100+
Work Model: Hybrid (three days in office), with periodic travel to other office locations
Role Summary
Alight is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director IT to lead IT operations across India for Leave Solution. This role demands a senior leader capable of guiding a large, multi‑disciplinary technology organization and ensuring seamless technology enablement across diverse business functions and customer environments.
The incumbent will oversee the delivery of a robust, world‑class technology landscape leveraging AWS, the Microsoft ecosystem, Scrum frameworks, and selective incorporation of AI‑driven automation to enhance scalability, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organizational Development

Formulate and execute an IT roadmap aligned with global business objectives.

Lead, mentor, and develop IT managers, engineers, and support personnel, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Technical Oversight & Delivery Management
-
Direct the design, development, testing, and deployment of institutional investment software products.

Provide expertise across .NET, AWS cloud platforms, and modern front‑end frameworks, ensuring technical rigor and architectural integrity.
Financial & HR Administration
-
Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation for technology initiatives. Manage HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, and employee engagement to ensure compliance with organizational policies and labor laws.
Governance, Policy, and Compliance
-
Develop, communicate, and enforce functional and organizational policies that adhere to corporate and regulatory requirements.

Ensure consistent compliance across all IT practices.
Engineering Excellence
-
Lead architectural decision‑making, code governance, and engineering standards across the organization.

Encourage innovative thinking and uphold best‑in‑class design, development, and delivery practices.
Operational Accountability

Assume full accountability for team outcomes, operational efficiency, and progress toward key performance indicators.

Establish mechanisms for monitoring activity levels, delivery timelines, and goal attainment across teams.
Program & Project Management

Oversee project prioritization, estimation, planning, and execution.

Adapt schedules and delivery plans to meet evolving internal and external customer needs.
Agile Methods

Champion the adoption of Agile methodologies across technology teams to enhance productivity, flexibility, and continuous improvement. Facilitate Agile ceremonies, support iterative development, and drive a culture of transparency and accountability.
Quality Assurance & Performance Management

Ensure rigorous adherence to quality assurance, performance testing, and problem‑resolution standards.

Champion continuous improvements to product performance, stability, and usability.
Business Process Optimization

Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify cost efficiencies and risk‑mitigation opportunities.

Drive transformation initiatives to strengthen operational effectiveness.
Strategic Advisory & Stakeholder Collaboration

Provide strategic counsel and mentorship to teams responsible for IT systems strategy, development, and integration.

Collaborate with Product Management to define system requirements and align technology investments with business objectives.
Cross‑Functional Leadership

Work closely with Architecture, DevOps, Information Security, and other related disciplines to resolve complex engineering challenges and deliver cohesive solutions.
Industry & Market Insight

Apply deep knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions and deliver sustainable competitive advantage.
Security, Compliance, and Data

Ensure robust security measures are in place to protect organizational assets and sensitive data. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards, and oversee data governance practices to ensure integrity, privacy, and availability.
Qualifications
18+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in leading multi- cross function team of 100+ Track record of building and scaling modern platforms – modern frameworks, API-first, cloud-native, AI First Proven experience establishing architecture standards, engineering practices, and reliability practices Ability to communicate and influence cross-functionally and at all levels Experience in Absence, HR Benefits, or Insurance domains.
