Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis 1 to join our culinary team at our restaurant in Mysuru, India. As a Commis 1 specializing in Continental Cuisine, you will work under the guidance of senior kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, maintain kitchen stations, and support the overall food preparation process. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills while working in a professional kitchen environment focused on delivering high-quality Continental dishes.

Prepare and organize ingredients according to mise en place standards and recipe specifications
Perform basic food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients with precision and consistency
Maintain assigned kitchen station in a clean, organized, and efficient manner
Assist in the cooking and plating of Continental cuisine dishes under supervision
Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
Support senior chefs and kitchen staff in executing daily kitchen operations
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely food service
Monitor inventory of assigned station and report shortages to supervisory staff
Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately, including ovens, stovetops, and food preparation tools
Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen environment through teamwork and communication

Qualifications

Proven experience in a kitchen environment or culinary training program
Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic food preparation techniques
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately and consistently
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen brigade
Familiarity with Continental cuisine preparation methods (preferred)
Food Safety Certification or equivalent knowledge (preferred)
Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures

Additional Information

Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
Fluency in English
Additional languages are a plus
