Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Data Analyst – SKU, Inventory & Stock Management with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of SKU creation and management, SCEW/product codes, unique product naming, barcode creation, stock handling, stock management, stock reconciliation, batch tracking, inventory ageing, dead-stock identification, and advanced Excel.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate product and inventory master data, monitoring stock movement, reconciling physical and system stock, identifying inventory discrepancies, analysing slow-moving/dead stock, and providing accurate MIS reports to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities1. SKU & Product Master Management
- Create, maintain, and update SKU codes, product codes, SCEW codes, and product master data.
- Create unique and standardized names for new products and SKUs.
- Ensure every product/variant has a unique and correctly mapped SKU.
- Maintain product details including:
- Product Name
- SKU Code
- Product/SCEW Code
- Category
- Sub-category
- Variant
- Size/Weight
- Pack Size
- UOM
- MRP
- Batch Information
- Barcode
- Warehouse/Location
- Identify and remove duplicate, inactive, obsolete, and incorrectly mapped SKUs.
- Maintain SKU mapping across warehouses, sales channels, e-commerce platforms, and internal systems.
- Ensure product master data is accurate and updated across all relevant systems.
2. Product Naming & Code Management
- Create and maintain unique product names according to company naming standards.
- Develop standardized naming structures for products, variants, sizes, pack quantities, and categories.
- Maintain product-code databases and ensure consistency across departments.
- Verify new SKU/product codes before they are activated in the system.
- Coordinate with R&D, Production, Sales, Marketing, E-commerce, and Finance teams for new SKU creation.
- Prevent duplicate product names, codes, and SKU entries.
3. Barcode Creation & Management
- Create and maintain barcodes for new and existing products/SKUs.
- Ensure accurate mapping between barcode, SKU, product code, and product name.
- Maintain a centralized barcode database.
- Verify barcode accuracy before product packaging, production, or market launch.
- Identify and correct barcode duplication or mapping errors.
- Coordinate with Production, Packaging, Warehouse, E-commerce, Marketplace, and Sales teams for barcode requirements.
- Maintain proper records of active, inactive, and revised barcodes.
4. Stock Handling & Inventory Management
- Monitor daily stock levels across warehouses and locations.
- Track stock inward, outward, transfers, returns, damages, adjustments, and closing stock.
- Maintain accurate SKU-wise inventory records.
- Monitor stock movement and identify unusual inventory variations.
- Track fast-moving, slow-moving, non-moving, excess, and dead stock.
- Monitor minimum stock levels and identify potential stock shortages.
- Coordinate with Stores/Warehouse teams to ensure proper stock handling and recording.
- Ensure inventory transactions are updated accurately and on time.
- Monitor stock availability against sales and operational requirements.
5. Stock Reconciliation
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliation between physical stock and system/ERP records.
- Compare:
- Physical stock
- ERP/System stock
- Warehouse records
- Sales data
- Purchase data
- Stock transfer records
- Return records
- Damage/adjustment records
- Identify stock discrepancies and investigate the reasons for variances.
- Analyse differences caused by:
- Wrong entries
- Missing transactions
- Stock shortages
- Excess stock
- Damages
- Returns
- Wrong SKU mapping
- Duplicate entries
- Transfer errors
- Data-entry mistakes
- Coordinate with Stores, Warehouse, Production, Sales, Finance, and other departments to resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile SKU-wise and batch-wise stock.
- Verify:
Opening Stock + Inward Stock – Outward Stock = Closing Stock
- Prepare stock variance and reconciliation reports.
- Ensure all inventory adjustments are properly documented and approved.
- Maintain an audit trail for stock corrections and adjustments.
- Support periodic physical stock counts and inventory audits.
6. Batch Management & Tracking
- Maintain accurate batch-wise inventory records.
- Track batch numbers, manufacturing dates, expiry dates, and quantities.
- Monitor batch movement from Production to Warehouse and Sales.
- Ensure correct batch information is maintained in ERP and Excel records.
- Identify ageing and near-expiry batches.
- Coordinate with relevant teams for appropriate action on ageing/near-expiry stock.
- Support batch-wise reconciliation and traceability.
- Ensure correct batch allocation during stock movement and dispatch.
7. Dead Stock & Slow-Moving Stock Management
- Identify dead stock, slow-moving stock, non-moving stock, excess stock, and obsolete inventory.
- Prepare SKU-wise and batch-wise inventory ageing reports.
- Analyse the reasons for stock accumulation.
- Identify products that have had no movement for defined periods.
- Prepare a Dead Stock Removal / Reduction Plan.
- Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Warehouse, and Management to implement approved actions.
- Recommend suitable actions such as:
- Promotional sales
- Discount campaigns
- Product bundling
- Stock transfers
- Marketplace liquidation
- Repacking/rework where applicable
- Other approved disposal or liquidation methods
- Track the implementation and results of dead-stock reduction plans.
- Monitor the financial impact of dead-stock reduction.
8. Inventory Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory MIS reports.
- Generate SKU-wise stock and movement reports.
- Prepare:
- Stock Ageing Reports
- Dead Stock Reports
- Slow-Moving Stock Reports
- Batch-wise Stock Reports
- Stock Reconciliation Reports
- Stock Variance Reports
- SKU Performance Reports
- Inventory Movement Reports
- Analyse inventory turnover and stock movement.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and potential inventory risks.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to management.
- Develop automated reports and dashboards wherever possible.
9. Advanced Excel & Data Analysis
