We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PowerBuilder Developer to join our enterprise application development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining robust client-server and n-tier applications using Sybase PowerBuilder. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while also supporting modernization and migration initiatives.

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using PowerBuilder (PB 10.x / 12.x / 2019 / 2022)

Build complex DataWindows, windows, menus, tab controls, and user objects

Develop reusable components and frameworks using PowerScript

Implement n-tier, client-server, and MVC architecture patterns
-
Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions
-
Develop and maintain custom user events, functions, and class hierarchies

Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views

Integrate PowerBuilder applications with Sybase ASE, MS SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2
-
Manage ODBC/JDBC database connections and transaction management
-
Ensure data integrity, normalization, and optimal database performance
-
Integrate with REST/SOAP web services and third-party APIs

Analyze, debug, and resolve application defects, performance bottlenecks, and production issues

Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
-
Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support and root cause analysis

Write and maintain comprehensive unit test cases and support QA testing cycles

Create and update technical documentation, design specs, and runbooks

Lead or contribute to legacy PowerBuilder application migration projects

Support upgrades from older PB versions to PowerBuilder 2019/2022 or Appeon platforms

Collaborate with solution architects on re-engineering, refactoring, and modernization strategies

Assist in migrating PowerBuilder apps to .NET, Java, or web-based platforms

Evaluate and implement Appeon Web / Appeon Mobile solutions for PB modernization

Work closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA Engineers, and Project Managers

Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives

Coordinate with infrastructure and DevOps teams for deployment and release management

Mentor and guide junior developers on PowerBuilder best practices

Contribute to effort estimation, technical planning, and solution design discussions

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

10 + years of hands-on PowerBuilder application development experience

Deep expertise in DataWindow objects, PowerScript, and event-driven programming

Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management

Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies — Agile and Waterfall

Proven experience in debugging, performance tuning, and production support

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts within PowerBuilder
-
Experience with PowerBuilder to .NET or Java migration projects

Hands-on experience with Appeon/PowerServer for web and mobile deployment
-
Knowledge of microservices architecture and API-first design
-
Exposure to cloud-native development on AWS or Azure
-
Prior experience in banking, finance, insurance, or ERP domains
