About Kannu Ki Chai
Kannu Ki Chai (KKC) is a growing Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) and café brand expanding its operations internationally. As part of our UK expansion, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Manager – UK to establish and manage the complete HR function across multiple UK locations.
This is a Pan-UK HR leadership role with responsibility for recruitment, employee relations, HR compliance, payroll coordination, workforce planning, training, HR systems, employee documentation, and HR readiness for new outlet openings.
The successful candidate will work closely with UK Operations, Finance, Management, and KKC Head Office in Pune, India.
Job Purpose
The HR Manager will be responsible for building and managing KKC's UK HR operations from the ground up and ensuring that all employees, outlets, and HR processes are compliant, properly documented, and aligned with company standards.
The role requires a commercially aware, highly organized, independent HR professional who can manage both strategic HR responsibilities and day-to-day operational HR activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesHR Operations & Workforce Planning
- Establish and manage the complete HR function for KKC UK.
- Develop HR policies, SOPs, processes, systems, and employee documentation.
- Prepare manpower plans based on outlet requirements, operating hours, business volumes, shifts, and expansion plans.
- Monitor manpower productivity, staffing levels, vacancies, and employee costs.
- Provide HR support across multiple UK locations and outlets.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for:
- Outlet Managers
- Shift Managers
- Team Leaders
- Baristas
- Food Handlers
- Counter/Service Staff
- Cleaners
- Other QSR/Hospitality positions
- Develop job descriptions and recruitment plans.
- Manage candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
- Use Indeed, recruitment agencies, job portals, referrals, local hiring channels, and other UK recruitment sources.
- Ensure timely recruitment against approved manpower requirements.
UK Employment Compliance
- Ensure completion of Right-to-Work checks before employment.
- Maintain accurate employee records and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate immigration and visa-related HR processes where applicable.
- Coordinate with external immigration, legal, payroll, or HR professionals when specialist advice is required.
- Ensure HR processes comply with applicable UK employment requirements and company policies.
- Conduct regular HR audits and identify compliance gaps.
Employee Lifecycle Management
Manage the complete employee lifecycle, including:
Recruitment → Offer → Joining → Onboarding → Probation → Confirmation → Performance Management → Promotion/Transfer → Disciplinary Action → Exit
- Prepare and coordinate employment offers and contracts.
- Maintain employee files and HR records.
- Manage probation and confirmation processes.
- Coordinate promotions, transfers, salary revisions, and employee movements.
- Manage employee exits and exit documentation.
Payroll, Attendance & Benefits
- Coordinate payroll inputs with UK Finance/Payroll and KKC Head Office.
- Ensure accurate information for:
- Attendance
- Working hours
- Overtime
- Holiday
- Sickness/absence
- New joiners
- Leavers
- Salary revisions
- Monitor shift schedules, working hours, breaks, overtime, rest periods, and rota compliance.
- Manage holiday, sickness, absence, and return-to-work processes.
- Coordinate workplace pension enrolment and employee records.
Employee Relations
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, misconduct cases, investigations, and workplace concerns.
- Ensure fair, consistent, and properly documented HR decisions.
- Support managers in performance and employee-related matters.
- Maintain strong employee engagement and workforce stability.
- Escalate critical HR, compliance, immigration, or legal matters to Senior Management.
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee induction and onboarding training.
- Ensure completion of mandatory and role-specific training.
- Coordinate food safety, workplace safety, and other required training.
- Maintain training records and completion trackers.
- Support performance reviews, career development, succession planning, and employee development.
HR MIS & Reporting
Develop and maintain HR dashboards and MIS covering:
- Manpower
- Recruitment
- Attrition
- Attendance
- Absence
- Payroll

- Outlet HR Readiness
Prepare regular HR reports and management updates for UK Management and KKC Head Office.
New Outlet Opening – HR Responsibility
The HR Manager will take complete ownership of HR readiness for every new KKC UK outlet.
The process will include:
Manpower Requirement → Budget Approval → Position Approval → Recruitment → Selection → Right-to-Work Verification → Offer → Employment Documentation → Payroll Setup → Pension → Training → Uniform/PPE → HR Audit → Final HR Sign-Off → Outlet Opening
The HR Manager must ensure that all required HR activities are completed before an outlet becomes operational.
KKC Head Office – Pune Coordination
The HR Manager will maintain regular coordination with KKC Head Office in Pune for:
- UK HR MIS and manpower reporting
- Recruitment requirements
- New employee master data
- Payroll and attendance coordination
- Salary and manpower approvals
- HR policies and SOP implementation

Candidate ProfileEssential Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in HR, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources will be an advantage.
- 8–12 years of HR experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years in an HR Manager/HR leadership role.
- Experience managing HR operations across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, HR administration, payroll coordination, and compliance.
- Experience in a growing or multi-location organization.
