Job Overview
About the Role:The team:
This role will be part of a newly formed team within Corporate Technology whose role is to support Finance and HR. They will be responsible for all of the technology services that are provided internally and by vendors.
Responsibilities and impact:
The SAP Technical & Platform Lead will serve as the hands-on engineering and operational leader for Osttra’s SAP implementation. This role is responsible for the end-to-end operational lifecycle, system connectivity, and technical management of the SAP platform, while also overseeing the broader corporate technology suite including Dayforce (HCM). Based in Gurugram, the position ensures that internal transactional architectures are highly stable, automated, and seamlessly integrated with upstream and downstream boundary applications.
This is an execution-focused, infrastructure-aware engineering leadership role. The successful candidate will blend strategic vendor coordination with deep SAP platform expertise, directly managing a small, agile local team of 4–5 engineering professionals covering both SAP and Dayforce platforms, alongside overseeing third-party Application Management Services (AMS) vendor support.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Vendor Governance
- Team Direction: Direct, coach, and mentor a core local team of 4–5 technical professionals in India covering the SAP and Dayforce platforms, translating global roadmaps into executable daily sprints.
- AMS Vendor Accountability: Manage day-to-day delivery and hold Application Management Services (AMS) partners and third-party vendors strictly accountable to contractually agreed technical SLAs.
- SAP RISE Coordination: Manage daily interactions with SAP's cloud teams regarding the SAP RISE hosted managed cloud environment, coordinating infrastructure administration, routine patching, and logging Service Requests (SRs).
Platform Management
- Service Management: Directly responsible for day to day IT Service Management - ensuring there is a proactive and robust process for managing incidents, problems and change.
- Connectivity Management: Own and manage the overall technical boundaries, system connectivity, and network infrastructure remaining directly in Osttra's control.
- Environment Control: Maintain the health, security, and access controls of non-production integration and testing environments to ensure zero disruption to live operations.
Integration, Middleware & Data Integrity
- Middleware Architecture: Oversee data mapping, file transfer (FTP) capabilities, and secure data flows between SAP and peripheral applications utilizing the SAP Integration Suite (SIS).
- Ledger Boundary Control: Secure and optimize automated data ingestion points and APIs on the financial ledger side where upstream transactional or billing data enters the accounting environment.
- Bespoke Cloud Support: Monitor and maintain external integration utilities, such as the Java-based Vertex SAP Integration Component (SIC) hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) virtual machines.
Technical Governance & Defect Resolution
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Act as the ultimate technical escalation point for complex platform defects, utilizing deep database and coding insights to resolve issues standard vendor or AMS support cannot easily fix.
- Data Optimization: Apply architectural understanding of SAP to actively optimize system queries and code objects.
- Compliance Guardrails: Ensure all technical configurations, security permissions, and master data structures strictly align with global data privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR for HR data) and internal financial controls.

- Database & Development Mechanics: Solid technical familiarity with the HANA database environment and the ability to read or modify SAP code objects (e.g., ABAP) to fix critical sorting or performance defects.
Cloud & Middleware Specializations (Good to Have)
- SAP Integration Suite (SIS): Understanding of SIS middleware architecture, data mapping rules, and file transfer (FTP) integrations.
