Job Description – Billing Assistant (Accounts Department)

Position: Billing Assistant
Department: Accounts
Location: The Head & Neck Centre & Hospital (ENT & IVF Hospital), Kilpauk, Chennai
Reporting To: Accounts Manager / Finance Head

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and responsible Billing Assistant to support the Accounts Department in handling patient billing, invoice generation, payment collections, and maintaining accurate financial records. The candidate should ensure timely and error-free billing while coordinating with various departments to provide excellent patient service.

Key Responsibilities

Generate accurate inpatient (IP), outpatient (OP), ENT, and IVF billing.
Prepare invoices, receipts, and payment acknowledgements.
Verify patient charges, investigations, pharmacy, procedures, and room charges before bill generation.
Coordinate with departments to ensure accurate billing information.
Process cash, UPI, card, and online payments and maintain daily collection records.
Assist in insurance, corporate, and TPA billing documentation, if applicable.
Prepare daily billing and collection reports.
Maintain billing records and supporting documents systematically.
Handle billing-related queries from patients professionally.
Assist in account reconciliation and support month-end closing activities.
Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies and financial procedures.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Accounts Manager or Management.

Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com) or any relevant degree.
Additional certification in Accounting or Tally will be an added advantage.

Experience

1–3 years of experience in hospital billing, accounts, or healthcare finance.
Freshers with strong accounting knowledge may also be considered.

Required Skills

Knowledge of hospital billing procedures.
Basic understanding of accounting principles.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and hospital management software (HealthLink experience preferred).
Familiarity with Tally ERP/Prime is an advantage.
Good numerical and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Professional attitude and patient-friendly approach.

Preferred Candidate

Experience in a multi-specialty, ENT, IVF, or fertility hospital.
Ability to handle billing with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Working Hours

As per hospital duty roster.
Willingness to work rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays if required.

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
