Business Development Executive-IT Services Sales & Upwork

Experience: 1–3 Years

About the Role:

We are looking for a results-driven Business Development Executive with hands-on experience in Upwork bidding, lead generation, and IT services sales.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, generating qualified leads, managing client conversations, preparing proposals, and driving opportunities through to closure. The candidate should have a good understanding of software development services and be comfortable communicating client requirements with technical teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead Generation & Business Development:

Generate qualified leads through Upwork, LinkedIn, B2B marketplaces, email outreach, cold calling, networking, and other digital channels.
Identify and evaluate relevant projects on Upwork and other freelancing/B2B marketplaces.
Prepare and submit customized, client-focused proposals and bids.
Prospect potential clients using tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo.io, Lusha, and similar platforms.
Identify opportunities for Custom Software Development, IT Resource Augmentation, and Dedicated Development Teams.
Research prospects and understand their business requirements, challenges, and technology needs.

Sales & Client Management

Manage the sales process from lead generation and qualification to proposal submission, negotiation, closure, and handover.
Conduct discovery calls and communicate professionally with prospective clients.
Understand client requirements and coordinate with technical teams to develop appropriate solutions.
Prepare proposals, presentations, effort estimates, SOWs, and commercial quotations.
Negotiate pricing, timelines, scope, and commercial terms.
Maintain consistent follow-ups and work towards converting qualified opportunities into customers.
Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and identify opportunities for repeat business and account expansion.

Pipeline & Performance Management

Maintain an organized and up-to-date sales pipeline and CRM records.
Track opportunities from initial contact through closure.
Achieve monthly and quarterly lead generation, sales, and revenue targets.
Maintain regular reports on leads, proposals, meetings, pipeline, and closures.
Monitor market trends and identify new opportunities for IT services.

Required Skills & Qualifications

6 months – 3 years of experience in IT Services, Software Sales, or Business Development.
Hands-on experience in Upwork bidding and client acquisition is mandatory.
Experience selling IT Resource Augmentation / Staff Augmentation services is highly preferred.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in B.Tech / MCA / MBA or a relevant field.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Excellent skills in proposal writing, requirement understanding, negotiation, presentation, and follow-up.
Good understanding of software development services and SDLC.
Ability to understand client requirements and communicate them effectively with technical teams.
Strong sales mindset with the ability to work towards targets and deadlines.
Self-motivated, organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Experience working with international clients, particularly from the US, UK, Europe, Australia, or the Middle East.
Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo.io, Lusha, CRM, or sales automation tools.
Exposure to selling AI, SaaS, Cloud, or Enterprise Software solutions.
Good understanding of modern software development services and emerging technologies, with the ability to confidently discuss technology requirements with clients.
Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills.
Confident in communicating with decision-makers and handling client discussions.
Ability to understand business requirements and position the company's services accordingly.
Passionate about technology and motivated by business growth and client acquisition.
