Job Purpose
To manage and supervise the overall operation and maintenance of STP, ETP, WTP, RO, MEE and ZLD plants, ensuring smooth plant operation, treated water quality, equipment reliability, manpower efficiency, safety, client satisfaction and compliance with applicable environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Plant Operations
- Supervise day-to-day operation of STP, ETP, WTP, RO, MEE and ZLD plants.
- Ensure plants operate as per design capacity and required performance parameters.
- Monitor plant process parameters and identify operational deviations.
- Ensure proper chemical dosing and optimum chemical consumption.
- Monitor treated water quality and take corrective action when required.
- Reduce plant downtime and improve overall plant efficiency.
2. Maintenance Management
- Plan and monitor preventive, routine and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure proper maintenance of pumps, motors, blowers, agitators, filters, clarifiers, RO systems, MEE equipment, pipelines, valves and dosing systems.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain proper records of breakdowns, repairs and preventive maintenance.
3. Manpower Management
- Plan manpower requirements for all O&M sites.
- Deploy Operators, Helpers, Technicians, Engineers and Site In-charges effectively.
- Monitor attendance, shift schedules and manpower productivity.
- Train and guide site personnel on plant operation and safety.
- Conduct regular site visits and review employee performance.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability at all times.
4. Client Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding plant operation and maintenance.
- Attend client complaints and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Conduct site meetings and performance reviews.
- Prepare and submit plant performance reports to clients.
- Coordinate with clients for shutdowns, maintenance activities, spares and additional requirements.
5. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure treated water/effluent quality meets applicable TNPCB and statutory requirements and client specifications.
- Monitor important parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, MLSS, DO, TDS and other applicable parameters.
- Maintain proper operational and compliance records.
- Support statutory inspections, audits and client inspections.
- Ensure proper chemical handling, sludge management and waste disposal practices.
6. Cost Control
- Monitor chemical, power, manpower and maintenance costs.
- Control unnecessary consumption and operating expenses.
- Plan required spares and consumables in advance.
- Maintain minimum stock of critical spares and chemicals.
- Coordinate with purchase and vendors for timely procurement.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Review daily plant operation reports from all sites.
- Prepare weekly and monthly O&M reports.
- Monitor plant performance, downtime, chemical consumption and maintenance activities.
- Maintain records of manpower, equipment breakdowns, spares and consumables.
- Report major operational issues and corrective actions to management.
8. Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure employees follow company and site safety procedures.
- Ensure proper use of PPE.
- Conduct safety inspections and toolbox meetings.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of plant areas.
- Take immediate action in case of unsafe conditions or emergencies.
9. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support to Site Engineers and Operators.
- Analyse major plant/process problems and identify root causes.
- Support commissioning, plant modifications and process improvements.
- Coordinate with engineering, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation teams.
- Implement improvements to increase plant performance and reliability.
10. Business Development & New Business Leads
- Identify and generate new business leads for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant O&M services.
- Develop new opportunities for STP, ETP, WTP, RO, MEE, ZLD and AMC/O&M contracts.
- Identify potential customers, industries, factories and commercial establishments requiring water and wastewater treatment solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Visit potential customer sites to understand their treatment plant requirements and operational challenges.
- Coordinate with the management/technical team for site surveys, technical discussions and proposal preparation.
- Follow up with prospective clients for quotations, technical proposals and commercial discussions.
- Maintain a database of potential customers, enquiries, quotations and business opportunities.
- Generate regular reports on new leads, customer meetings, enquiries and conversion status.
- Support the management in converting leads into AMC, O&M, manpower supply, plant modification and other service contracts.
- Develop business opportunities through existing client references and industry contacts.
- Achieve assigned monthly/quarterly business lead generation and conversion targets.

Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Additional experience in water and wastewater treatment will be preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Water & Wastewater Treatment O&M.
- Experience in STP, ETP, WTP, RO and ZLD is preferred.
- Experience in managing multiple sites and O&M manpower will be an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Preventive maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, Word and preparation of reports.
- Willingness to travel to different project sites.
Authority & Responsibility
The O&M Manager is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, cost-effective and continuous operation of all assigned treatment plants, while achieving plant performance, manpower, maintenance, quality and client-service targets.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
