Role Summary
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Officer to support the Company's day-to-day legal, contractual, litigation, compliance, and corporate governance functions. The role requires a hands-on legal professional who can independently handle routine legal matters, exercise sound legal judgment, identify legal risks, and provide practical legal support to management and business teams. The Legal Officer will work closely with the Company Secretary and external legal counsel in supporting the Company's legal, regulatory and governance framework.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory
● Provide timely, practical and commercially sound legal advice to management and business teams on operational, contractual, commercial, employment and regulatory matters.
● Identify legal risks associated with business decisions and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
● Conduct legal research, analyse statutes, judicial precedents and regulatory developments, and prepare legal opinions, notes and management briefs. ● Support business initiatives by providing legally compliant and commercially practical solutions.
2. Contracts & Commercial Documentation
● Independently draft, review, negotiate and vet commercial contracts, including customer and vendor agreements, NDAs, service agreements, employment contracts, consultancy agreements, lease and licence agreements, settlement agreements, indemnities and other legal documents.
● Standardise contractual documentation and develop contract templates. ● Ensure contractual arrangements adequately protect the Company's legal and commercial interests.
● Maintain an effective contract management system, including renewals, obligations and risk tracking.
3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
● Independently manage the Company's litigation portfolio, including civil, commercial, labour, consumer and regulatory matters.
● Draft legal notices, replies, affidavits, applications, written statements, notices and other pleadings.
● Evaluate legal disputes, recommend litigation strategy and advise management on settlement opportunities and legal risks.
● Represent the Company before government departments, quasi-judicial authorities, tribunals and regulatory authorities wherever legally permissible and authorised.
● Coordinate with external advocates and senior counsel in matters requiring specialised legal expertise or court appearances.
● Maintain litigation records and monitor limitation periods, hearing schedules and compliance with court or regulatory directions.
4. Corporate Compliance & Governance
● Assist the Company Secretary in ensuring compliance with applicable corporate, securities, labour, commercial and other statutory laws.
● Support compliance with SEBI regulations, stock exchange requirements, corporate governance standards and other regulatory obligations applicable to a listed company. ● Monitor statutory filings, licences, registrations and regulatory approvals. ● Assist in regulatory inspections, audits, investigations and responses to statutory authorities.
● Maintain statutory records, legal documentation and compliance trackers. 5. Legal Operations
● Develop and maintain effective legal documentation and record management systems. ● Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the Company's business and recommend necessary actions.
● Conduct legal awareness programmes for business teams on contractual and compliance issues.
● Build efficient legal processes aimed at strengthening the Company's in-house legal capabilities and reducing external legal dependence while ensuring effective risk management.
Qualifications
● LL.B. / B.A. LL.B. from a recognised university.
● Enrolment with the Bar Council will be preferred.
● 2–5 years of relevant experience in litigation, corporate legal practice, law firms or an in-house legal department.
● Experience in drafting commercial contracts and independently handling legal matters will be preferred.
Desired Skills & Competencies
● Excellent drafting, negotiation and contract management skills.
● Strong knowledge of Contract Law, Corporate Law, Civil Procedure, Labour Laws, Commercial Laws and general regulatory compliance.
● Working knowledge of the Companies Act, SEBI Regulations and corporate governance principles applicable to listed companies.
● Ability to independently analyse legal issues, formulate legal strategy and provide practical business-oriented solutions.
● Sound litigation management and dispute resolution skills.
● Strong legal research, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Excellent communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
● High standards of integrity, professional ethics and confidentiality.
● Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritise effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
