Job Summary
We are seeking a GST Executive/Senior GST Executive to handle end-to-end GST compliance, advisory, reconciliations, assessments, and litigation support for shipping and maritime sector clients. The role involves dealing with complex GST matters relating to vessel operations, ship leasing, charter arrangements, import/export transactions, coastal shipping, international transportation services, SEZ/IFSC transactions, and GST audits.
Key Responsibilities1. GST Compliance
- Preparation and review of GST returns including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C.
- Monthly reconciliation of GST liability with books of accounts.
- Verification and reconciliation of Input Tax Credit (ITC) with GSTR-2B.
- Monitoring GST payment schedules and compliance deadlines.
- Preparation and review of GST workings for shipping and maritime transactions.
2. Shipping Industry GST Matters
- Review GST implications on:
- Ship leasing transactions.
- Bareboat and time charter arrangements.
- Vessel management services.
- Coastal shipping services.
- International transportation services.
- Import and export of goods and services.
- Foreign currency transactions.
- Offshore and maritime operations.
- Determination of place of supply and taxability of shipping transactions.
- Review GST applicability on freight, demurrage, port charges, agency commissions, and related maritime services.
- Analysis of GST exemptions and concessions applicable to shipping entities.
3. Input Tax Credit Management
- Review eligibility of ITC on vessel-related expenses.
- Identification of blocked credits under GST provisions.
- Monthly ITC reconciliation and follow-up with vendors.
- Preparation of ITC recovery and reversal workings.
4. Advisory & Research
- Conduct GST research on shipping and maritime industry issues.
- Analyse GST notifications, circulars, advance rulings and judicial precedents.
- Prepare technical opinions and advisory notes for clients.
- Assist in structuring transactions from a GST perspective.
5. GST Assessments & Litigation Support
- Preparation and filing of replies to notices issued by GST authorities.
- Handling departmental audits and GST assessments.
- Preparation of submissions for scrutiny proceedings.
- Assistance in appeals and litigation matters.
- Compilation of documents and evidences required by authorities.
6. Reconciliations & Reporting
- Reconciliation of GST returns with:
- Trial Balance
- Financial Statements
- Revenue Registers
- Vendor Registers
- Preparation of management reports highlighting GST risks and exposures.
- Identification of compliance gaps and recommending corrective actions.
7. Audit Support
- Assisting statutory auditors and internal auditors in GST-related matters.
- Preparation of schedules and reconciliations for audits.
- Supporting GST annual return and GST audit certification processes.
8. Client Coordination
- Liaison with finance teams, vessel operations teams, and management.
- Coordination with GST authorities and consultants.
- Follow-up with clients for information and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / CA Inter / CMA / CS / MBA Finance / B.Com with GST experience.
- 2–6 years of experience in GST compliance and advisory.
- Experience in shipping, logistics, maritime, freight forwarding, ship leasing, or international taxation environment preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of GST laws, rules, notifications, and circulars.
- Understanding of shipping and maritime business models.
- Knowledge of:
- Import and Export regulations.
- SEZ transactions.
- IFSC entities.
- Foreign currency accounting.
- GST refund mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of accounting standards and financial statements.
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, and reconciliation tools.
- Experience with GST portals and compliance software.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
