Summary:
UST is looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Java/GCP to provide technical leadership across application design, development, architecture, and delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java, JEE, Spring, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP web services, Hibernate, SQL, and multi-tier application architecture, along with knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably GCP.
The Technical Lead will work closely with Product Owners, architects, developers, and client stakeholders to understand business requirements, drive technical solutions, manage backlog items, mentor team members, and ensure the delivery of scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software solutions.
The Opportunity:
As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for providing hands-on technical leadership and contributing to the successful delivery of application features and solutions.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Maintain active relationships with Product Owners to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Lead requirement-gathering meetings and participate in design discussions and reviews with Product Owners and other stakeholders.
- Own assigned backlog items and coordinate with team members to develop and deliver features planned for each sprint.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the Agile software development lifecycle.
- Perform technical design reviews, architecture reviews, and code reviews to ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Mentor, lead, and guide team members in technical skills, coding practices, design principles, and development methodologies.
- Be responsible for prototyping, developing, troubleshooting, and supporting software across user interface and service layers.
- Perform peer reviews of source code to ensure reusability, scalability, maintainability, performance, and quality.
- Participate in collaborative technical discussions focused on software user experience, application design, architecture, development, and technology selection.
- Design and develop enterprise applications using Java/JEE, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Develop and integrate REST and SOAP web services.
- Work with Hibernate/JPA, SQL databases, Tomcat, and application servers such as WebSphere.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical and application issues.
- Follow and promote software engineering best practices, design patterns, coding standards, and quality processes.
- Support CI/CD and code quality initiatives using tools such as Jenkins and Sonar/SonarQube.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Perform demonstrations of completed features and sub-features to client stakeholders.
- Evaluate and adopt modern front-end, backend, cloud, and development technologies as appropriate for project requirements.
- Contribute to application architecture, technical documentation, design standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you need:
We are looking for a strong technical professional with hands-on experience in Java enterprise application development, software architecture, cloud technologies, and Agile delivery. The candidate should have the ability to lead technical discussions, mentor team members, work closely with Product Owners, and deliver scalable enterprise solutions.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
- Strong experience in developing applications using multi-tier architecture.
- Strong knowledge of Java/JEE, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP web services.
- Strong knowledge of Hibernate/JPA and SQL.
- Experience working with Tomcat and application servers such as WebSphere.
- Knowledge of GCP or any major cloud platform.
- Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD practices.
- Knowledge of Sonar/SonarQube and software code quality practices.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of AJAX and web application development.
- Strong understanding of UML, application design, software architecture, and design patterns.
- Experience performing technical design reviews and peer/code reviews.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
Desired Skills:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in GCP service development.
- Experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications using GCP services.
- Experience with Angular 2.x or later versions.
- Knowledge of modern front-end development technologies.
- Experience with microservices and cloud-native application development.
- Experience working with distributed and highly scalable enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of additional CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud technologies.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in Java application development.
- Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership role with the ability to mentor and guide development teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
