Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Trainer – GST Assistant for our skill development training programs in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

The trainer will be responsible for delivering theoretical and practical training in Goods and Services Tax (GST), accounting, invoicing, return filing, taxation procedures, documentation, compliance, and related financial processes.

The training shall be delivered as per the prescribed curriculum, Qualification Pack/NOS, NSQF standards, and applicable skill development guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver classroom and practical training for the GST Assistant job role.
Train candidates on the fundamentals and practical application of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Explain the structure and concepts of:

CGST
SGST
IGST
UTGST
Input Tax Credit
Reverse Charge Mechanism
Composition Scheme
Exempt and taxable supplies

Train candidates on GST registration procedures and basic taxpayer compliance requirements.

Provide practical training on:

GST invoicing
Tax invoices
Debit and credit notes
E-invoicing concepts
E-way bills
Purchase and sales registers
GST reconciliation
Input Tax Credit reconciliation
GST return preparation
Basic GST return filing processes

Explain commonly used GST returns such as:

GSTR-1
GSTR-3B
GSTR-9
Other applicable returns based on the curriculum

Train candidates on maintenance of books of accounts and supporting documentation.

Provide practical exposure to accounting software such as:

Tally / Tally Prime , MS EXCEL, Other relevant accounting and GST software

Train candidates in recording purchase, sales, receipt, payment, journal, and contra entries.
Explain basic accounting concepts, ledgers, trial balance, profit & loss account, and balance sheet.
Train candidates on GST-related documentation, filing schedules, compliance calendars, and record maintenance.
Explain basic concepts of TDS, income tax, and other statutory compliances wherever relevant to the curriculum.
Conduct practical assignments using sample invoices, purchase records, sales records, GST data, and accounting transactions.
Train candidates to identify common GST errors, mismatches, and documentation issues.
Provide basic understanding of GST portal workflows and online compliance processes.
Explain the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, statutory compliance, and timely filing.
Ensure training delivery as per prescribed Qualification Pack (QP), National Occupational Standards (NOS), NSQF curriculum, and training hours.
Prepare lesson plans, session plans, presentations, assignments, practical exercises, and case studies.
Conduct regular assessments, mock tests, practical evaluations, and revision sessions.
Maintain candidate attendance, progress reports, assessment records, practical logs, and other training documentation.
Provide remedial support to candidates requiring additional assistance.
Prepare candidates for final assessment and certification.
Train candidates in workplace communication, professional conduct, documentation, and employability skills.
Support candidates in interview preparation for accounting, taxation, finance, and GST-related roles.
Coordinate with the Centre Manager, Training Coordinator, Assessors, and Project Team for smooth implementation of the training program.
Support placement activities for candidates in CA firms, accounting firms, GST consultancy firms, companies, MSMEs, and finance departments.

Qualification

Candidates should preferably possess one of the following qualifications:

B.Com / M.Com
BBA / MBA in Finance
B.Com in Taxation / Accounting
CA Inter / CMA Inter / CS Inter
Graduate / Postgraduate qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or Taxation
Diploma / Certification in GST, Accounting, or Taxation
Any other relevant qualification with practical experience in GST and Accounting

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant industry and/or training experience in GST, Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related areas.
Candidates with hands-on experience in GST return preparation, filing, accounting, invoicing, and reconciliation will be preferred.
Experience in CA firms, tax consultancy firms, accounting firms, finance departments, or GST practice will be an added advantage.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of GST concepts and compliance procedures.
Good understanding of GST registration, invoicing, returns, and reconciliation.
Practical knowledge of Tally / TallyPrime.
Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
Knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
Familiarity with GST portal processes.
Understanding of Input Tax Credit and tax liability calculation.
Knowledge of e-way bills and e-invoicing concepts.
Basic understanding of TDS and Income Tax will be an advantage.
Good numerical and analytical ability.
Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
Ability to conduct practical, computer-based training sessions.
Strong classroom management and presentation skills.
Ability to explain accounting and taxation concepts in a simple and practical manner.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in Telugu is essential; working knowledge of English and Hindi will be an added advantage.
