Key Responsibilities

Own the overall marketplace advertising strategy and roadmap across Amazon, Flipkart, and other relevant platforms for the Books category

Take full ownership of the advertising P&L — ad spend, revenue contribution, ACOS/ROAS/TACOS targets, and profitability

Set quarterly and annual advertising budgets, forecast spend, and allocate budgets across platforms, formats, and campaigns

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Ads Executives/Specialists; set goals, review performance, and build capability within the team

Define and drive strategy across the full spectrum of ad formats — Sponsored Products/Brands/Display, Amazon DSP, Flipkart FSP/FSB, Display/Banner Ads, remarketing, deals & promotions

Build category-level advertising strategy aligned with business goals: new title launches, seasonal/festive spikes, exam season, backlist revival, etc.

Partner with cross-functional teams — category management, catalog/listing, supply chain, and finance — to align advertising with inventory and business priorities

Present advertising performance, strategy, and business impact to leadership/founders on a regular cadence

Own vendor and platform relationships — Amazon Ads team, Flipkart Ads team, and any external agencies or tech partners

Drive innovation by piloting new ad formats, beta programs, and marketplace features ahead of competitors

Establish reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs for the advertising function across the organization

Conduct competitive benchmarking and market analysis to inform strategy and identify growth opportunities

Required Skills & Qualifications

3-5+ years of experience in e-commerce/marketplace advertising, with proven experience managing large ad budgets (₹1 Cr+ annual spend or equivalent)

At least 2–3 years of experience leading and managing a team

Deep, hands-on expertise across the full range of Amazon Ads (Sponsored Products/Brands/Display, DSP) and Flipkart Ads (FSP, FSB, Display, remarketing) — not limited to Sponsored Ads alone

Strong P&L ownership experience — comfortable being accountable for revenue, spend efficiency, and profitability

Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills; strong command of Excel/Google Sheets and reporting tools

Strong understanding of e-commerce metrics: ACOS, ROAS, TACOS, CTR, CPC, Conversion Rate, Contribution Margin

Prior experience in the Books/Publishing/Media industry strongly preferred

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to present to founders/leadership confidently

Strategic thinker with strong execution capability — equally comfortable setting direction and getting into campaign-level detail when needed

Graduate/Postgraduate in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
