We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join as Vice President in Ecosystems & Partnerships team in Global Payments Solutions.

Job Introduction

Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is one of HSBC’s global product lines is made up of almost 10,000 people, across more than 60 countries. GPS works on structuring and delivering payments solutions to Corporates and Financial Institutions (CIB) aligned to customer needs. Through a comprehensive array of solutions, GPS helps corporates in managing their payables, receivables and liquidity effectively. Our expertise in this area is repeatedly recognised by the industry’s most prominent publications and associations with numerous global, regional and country awards.

The role is responsible to for identifying and driving of structured sector / ecosystem solutions as well as partnerships to deliver the GPS strategy focused on “future-proofing our solutions, enhance client experience and increase our relevance to clients & to the HSBC Group”. The objective, would be work alongside Product and the Sales team, essentially enhancing the bandwidth and focus within these teams to work on complex solutions and partnership opportunities that can have a large positive business impact.

Principal Responsibilities

HSBC, has been at the forefront of Innovation in the payments space and has been offering comprehensive range of new age solutions clients globally. The bank has been recognised by industry’s most prominent publications and associations for its strength in combining innovation and service excellence with end-to-end customer solutions.

Identifying, Evaluating and Developing a broad range of Partnerships with external entities: Aligning to our strategy pillars of “Everything as a Service” & “Scalable Treasury 2.0”, to support our customers in transforming their treasury function / business processes. The incumbent would work with a broad range of market players (Fintechs, Deep Tech companies focusing on data, RPA, AI, ERP providers) to develop partnerships. These partnerships would serve at least one of the two objectives – enable us to co-create transformational solutions for large MNCs / local corporates and/or act as a channel for client acquisition through embedded GPS services / APIs.
Eco systems – Existing & Emerging: Traditionally, each industry has had unique transaction banking requirements and hence the focus on industry level solutions. However, owing to technology led disruptions, new ecosystems have emerged blurring boundaries across industries. Existing ecosystems like mobility as a service, business to consumer industries like healthcare, consumer goods and emerging ones like Data Centers, EVs etc require us to approach them with ecosystem level solution offering as well as sales strategy. The incumbent would work alongside relevant Product and Sales manager in GPS and beyond towards identifying ecosystem level problem statements and developing ecosystem level strategy and solutions.
New business models & Emerging themes: Disruptions and innovation driven by a combination of factors such as Technology, Regulatory/Government actions, Changing Consumer behavior are leading to transformation in our client’s business models e.g. Direct to Consumer (D2C), Open Networks. There is an opportunity to identify such changes early and structure propositions (along with relevant partners) to help clients successfully navigate through the change. The incumbent will work in close conjunction with Product and Sales team on ideation and execution on this.
Thought leadership: Act a catalyst working with other functions in the business to drive multiple actions towards projecting our Thought leadership in payments space. The incumbent would be responsible for content creation as well as identify channels and execute on internal / external communications working closely with Marketing team, Product, Sales and GPS country head.

Role Requirements / Education Qualifications / Certifications / Experience:

Engineering graduate with significant working experience in banking, with 6 to 8 years of experience – of this 3 years should be client facing preferably in the Wholesale Bank.

Deep knowledge in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Treasury Management System (TMS)
Experience in - RESTful API, JSON, would be an added advantage
Job holder should be mature, able to work under pressure and able to self-motivate and motivate team members in a challenging environment
Responsible for bank integration and project management, s/he must ensure that her/his skills are up-to-date with market trends
Sound working knowledge of Information Technology, application integration, networks, security and operating systems are required
Ability to formulate strategies with strong execution and drive process improvement
Ability to operate on a cross-functional basis and work with different teams and departments

Pro Tip: Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
