Job Description – Quality Control Engineer

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Engineer with around 5 years of experience in industrial automation / SPM manufacturing. The person will be responsible for ensuring that machines, fabricated components, assemblies, electrical panels, and documentation meet the approved TDS, drawings, BOM, quality standards, and customer requirements before dispatch and during installation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Quality Inspection
- Inspect complete machines during assembly and before dispatch.
- Verify machine dimensions, assembly accuracy, alignment, and workmanship.
- Ensure the machine is built as per the approved drawing, BOM, TDS, and customer specifications.
- Identify defects and coordinate with Design, Production, Electrical, PLC, and Service teams for corrective action.
2. Mechanical Quality
- Inspect fabricated and machined components.
- Check welding quality, dimensions, hole positions, surface finish, alignment, and assembly.
- Verify purchased components against specifications and drawings.
- Ensure proper finishing, painting, powder coating, plating, etc.
3. Electrical & PLC Quality
- Verify electrical panel wiring, component selection, terminal identification, labeling, earthing, and safety circuits.
- Check sensors, actuators, motors, drives, PLC, HMI, and communication wiring.
- Verify PLC/HMI functionality against the approved sequence and TDS.
- Ensure the final PLC program and backup are available before machine dispatch.
4. TDS & Drawing Verification
- Prepare and use a TDS-based inspection checklist.
- Verify machine performance against defined technical specifications.
- Check latest drawing revisions and ensure obsolete drawings are not used.
- Identify discrepancies between actual machine, drawing, BOM, and ERP BOM.
5. FAT & Pre-Dispatch Inspection
- Conduct machine inspection before FAT.
- Prepare FAT inspection reports and record deviations.
- Verify all punch points are closed before dispatch.
- Ensure machine readiness for installation and commissioning.
6. Supplier / Vendor Quality
- Inspect incoming fabricated and purchased components.
- Coordinate with vendors for quality issues and rework.
- Maintain supplier rejection and corrective-action records.
- Support vendor quality improvement activities.
7. NCR & Root Cause Analysis
- Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) for quality deviations.
- Perform 5 Why / Fishbone root-cause analysis.
- Implement and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain quality rejection and rework data.
8. Documentation & Traceability
- Maintain inspection reports, checklists, NCRs, FAT reports, and quality records.
- Ensure machine-wise quality documentation is maintained.
- Maintain traceability of critical components and inspection results.
- Ensure required documents are handed over to Service/Project teams.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation machines / SPMs.
- Mechanical inspection and measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of PLC, HMI, sensors, drives, electrical panels and industrial automation.
- Ability to read 2D drawings, assembly drawings, BOM and layouts.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication inspection.
- Knowledge of powder coating/painting and surface-finish inspection.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier caliper
- Micrometer
- Height gauge
- Dial gauge
- Coating thickness gauge
- Multimeter and electrical test instruments
- Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, 7 QC tools, 5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA and NCR.
- Good understanding of FAT, SAT and machine commissioning requirements.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years in Quality Control/Quality Assurance in an automation, SPM, machine-building, or manufacturing company.
- Experience handling complete machine quality, rather than only incoming inspection, will be preferred.
- Experience working with Design, R&D, Production, Purchase, Stores, PLC and Service teams.
- Ability to independently identify machine-quality gaps before dispatch.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be hands-on, detail-oriented, technically strong, and capable of independently challenging quality deviations. The engineer should have good communication skills and be able to coordinate effectively with Design, R&D, Production, Electrical/PLC, Purchase and Service teams.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
