Opportunity: Security Engineer – ISM | Fortinet Firewall Specialist
Rate: INR 8,000/- per day
Duration: 4–6 Months
Experience: 5+ Years
Key Responsibilities:
*Manage day-to-day FortiGate firewall operations and service requests
*Handle firewall rule creation, modification, validation, and removal requests (ITSR)
*Review firewall changes for business justification, least privilege, accuracy, and security risk
*Implement approved firewall policy changes through change management processes
*Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving firewall policies, NAT, routing, VPNs, zones, and security profiles
Support firewall outages, incidents, pre-change and post-change validations
Fortinet Firewall Administration:
- Configure and manage FortiGate policies, objects, groups, VIPs, NAT, routes, and security profiles
- Support FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer operations
- Analyze FortiGate logs, traffic flows, denied/allowed sessions, threat events, and policy hits
- Troubleshoot IPsec VPN, site-to-site VPN, and remote access VPN issues
- Support firmware upgrades, HA validation, backup/restore, and compliance checks
Security & Risk Management:
- Identify risky firewall rules including any-any access, broad access, stale rules, and high-risk services
- Perform rule cleanup, optimization, recertification, and risk assessments
- Support SOC investigations, firewall alerts, suspicious traffic analysis, and policy violation reviews
Process & Automation:
- Create SOPs, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and operational documentation
- Improve firewall review processes, exception workflows, and reporting
- Support automation for rule reviews, hit-count analysis, duplicate detection, and risk reporting
Required Skills:
*Strong Fortinet FortiGate firewall experience
*Good knowledge of firewall policies, NAT, routing, VPN, objects, and security profiles
*Strong TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN, routing, and network troubleshooting skills
*Experience with firewall change management and ITSM processes
*Understanding of SOC operations, incident response, and security monitoring
Preferred Skills:
- FortiManager & FortiAnalyzer experience
- Firewall policy cleanup, compliance reviews, and risk assessments
- Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FTD, Check Point, or Juniper SRX
- SIEM exposure (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar)
- KQL/SIEM query knowledge
- Cloud security exposure (Azure/AWS/GCP)
- Python, PowerShell, APIs, or firewall automation experience
Preferred Certifications:
Fortinet NSE 4 / FCP Network Security | NSE 5 | CCNA/CCNP Security | Security+ | CEH | CISSP/CISM
