Job Description

Position Title: Social Media Monitoring Executive
Experience Required: 1–5 Years
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Delhi
Work Location: In-person

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Social Media Monitoring Executive to monitor and analyze social media, digital platforms, online news, and relevant conversations across assigned topics, brands, and industries.

The role involves real-time media monitoring, social listening, trend identification, sentiment analysis, competitor tracking, and reporting. The candidate will be responsible for identifying important conversations and emerging narratives, maintaining accurate monitoring data, and converting media coverage into clear and actionable reports and insights.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of social media and digital media monitoring, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to work with large volumes of information in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor trends, current news, brand mentions, competitor activities, and assigned topics across Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, online news platforms, and other relevant digital channels.
Conduct daily and real-time media monitoring to identify relevant brand, industry, leadership, and competitor coverage.
Track keywords, hashtags, accounts, influencers, communities, and online conversations relevant to assigned topics.
Identify emerging trends, viral content, breaking news, key narratives, and potential reputation risks and escalate important developments promptly.
Conduct social listening and online reputation monitoring (ORM) to identify changes in brand perception and emerging negative conversations.
Develop and use Boolean searches and keyword combinations to improve the accuracy and relevance of media monitoring.
Perform sentiment analysis and classify relevant media and social media coverage.
Conduct Share of Voice (SOV) analysis and competitor benchmarking to evaluate media visibility and brand performance.
Capture and document relevant posts, articles, discussions, screenshots, links, and summaries in an organized manner.
Perform data tagging, categorization, cleaning, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of monitoring data.
Maintain daily and weekly monitoring trackers and databases using MS Excel.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly media monitoring reports, newsletters, dashboards, and presentations.
Analyze media coverage to identify key themes, emerging narratives, message pull-through, sentiment trends, and perception shifts.
Follow reliable news sources and cross-verify information observed on social media before reporting.
Flag misinformation, negative mentions, sensitive content, and potential reputation-related issues as per team guidelines.
Monitor competitor activities and relevant industry developments and provide timely updates to the team.
Support preparation of media audits, competitive analysis, client reports, presentations, and new business proposals.
Coordinate with internal and client servicing teams to understand reporting requirements and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
Explore and utilize AI-assisted tools and automation to improve media research, summarization, reporting, and insight-generation workflows.

Required Skills

Strong understanding of social media, digital media, online news, and media monitoring.
Good familiarity with Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and online news platforms.
Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to identify relevant information from large volumes of content.
Good understanding of social listening, sentiment analysis, ORM, competitor monitoring, and media intelligence.
Working knowledge of Boolean search and keyword-based monitoring.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, dashboards, and data visualization is an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to summarize complex information into clear, concise, and structured reports.
Ability to identify patterns, trends, and emerging narratives from media coverage.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple monitoring assignments simultaneously.
Strong coordination and teamwork skills.

Preferred / Good to Have

Experience in media intelligence, PR agencies, communications, social listening, digital media, journalism, research, or brand analytics.
Experience in preparing media monitoring dashboards and analytical reports.
Exposure to AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or other AI-assisted research and reporting platforms.
Understanding of data tagging, taxonomy, data cleaning, and media classification.

Qualifications

Graduate in any discipline.
Candidates from Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business, Research, or related fields will be preferred.
1–5 years of relevant experience in social media monitoring, media monitoring, media intelligence, social listening, PR, communications, digital media, research, or related roles.

The ideal candidate should be highly alert, curious, analytical, and detail-oriented, with a strong interest in news, social media, brands, and current developments.

The candidate should be able to distinguish relevant information from noise, identify important developments quickly, analyze conversations and media coverage, and convert findings into accurate and meaningful insights.

Candidates who have worked with media monitoring/social listening platforms and handled monitoring or reporting for multiple brands or clients will be strongly preferred.
