Compliance Officer – IFSC EntityLocation: GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat

About Evitaas Ventures IFSC LLP - Evitaas Ventures IFSC LLP is a proprietary trading firm focused on quantitative and systematic trading strategies across global financial markets. Operating strictly as a prop trading desk, Evitaas trades exclusively using internal firm capital and does not manage or accept funds from external clients, High Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs), or institutional investors.

As part of its expansion, Evitaas is establishing an operational trading entity in GIFT City, IFSC under the regulatory jurisdiction of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). We are seeking a Compliance Officer to design, implement, and maintain the compliance architecture for our proprietary trading operations.

Role Summary

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for building, managing, and sustaining the regulatory compliance framework for Evitaas’s GIFT City entity. The role covers regulatory licensing, policy development, trade surveillance, exchange/broker regulatory compliance, counterparty due diligence, risk management controls, and direct interface with IFSCA and relevant exchange bodies.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in capital markets regulations, high attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage compliance within a fast-paced proprietary trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & IFSCA Readiness
Lead the regulatory setup, licensing, and compliance implementation for the IFSC proprietary trading entity.
Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable IFSCA regulations, circulars, notifications, and market infrastructure rules.
Manage regulatory approvals, submissions, filings, declarations, and formal correspondence with IFSCA and connected stock exchanges (e.g., India INX, NSE IX).
Track evolving regulatory developments, capital markets policies, and exchange rules, assessing their impact on trading operations.
Maintain a central Regulatory Obligations Tracker and ensure adherence to all operational conditions imposed by regulators.
Compliance Framework & Policy Development
Build and maintain the firm’s compliance policies, manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tailored to proprietary trading operations.
Formulate policies regarding Personal Account Dealing (PAD), Prevention of Market Abuse, Insider Trading, Conflicts of Interest, and Code of Conduct.
Establish a structured Compliance Calendar covering periodic regulatory filings, exchange reporting, and internal reviews.
Develop operational controls to ensure trading desk activities remain within regulatory boundaries.
AML / CTF & Counterparty Due Diligence
Oversee the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) framework applicable to proprietary trading operations under IFSCA guidelines.
Establish policies for counterparty, prime broker, clearing member, vendor, and banking due diligence (CDD/EDD) and sanctions screening.
Conduct ongoing due diligence on external trading partners and service providers.
Ensure appropriate record-keeping and audit readiness for all corporate transactions and operational counterparties.
Trade Surveillance & Market Integrity
Establish and monitor trade surveillance systems to detect potential market abuse, wash trading, spoofing, front-running, or unauthorized trading practices.
Ensure trading algorithms, automated execution systems, and strategy implementations comply with exchange and regulatory risk parameters.
Implement procedures for monitoring pre-trade and post-trade compliance controls, including order-to-trade ratios and execution limits.
Maintain logs of trading exceptions, limit breaches, and market surveillance alerts, escalating material issues to senior leadership.
Risk Management & Operational Controls
Support the development of internal risk management controls specific to proprietary capital deployment.
Monitor regulatory capital adequacy, net worth requirements, margin utilization, and exposure limits mandated by IFSCA and exchanges.
Establish protocols for incident management, trading system failures, operational risk tracking, and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
Review operational procedures to maintain appropriate segregation of duties and system access controls.
Governance & Corporate Support
Maintain governance records, decision logs, and regulatory correspondence for the IFSC entity.
Prepare routine compliance reports, risk metrics, and regulatory updates for management.
Coordinate internal governance reviews and monitor action items arising from risk, legal, and operational assessments.
Regulatory Reporting & Filings
Direct periodic, event-based, and routine regulatory submissions required by IFSCA, stock exchanges, and clearing corporations.
Ensure accurate compiling and timely submission of financial returns, capital adequacy reports, and operational compliance certificates.
Coordinate with internal finance, technology, and operations teams to verify data integrity prior to regulatory submissions.
Audit & Inspection Readiness
Lead preparation and coordination for internal audits, external audits, exchange inspections, and IFSCA regulatory examinations.
Maintain comprehensive records, transaction logs, policy documentation, and reporting trails in a state of continuous audit readiness.
Track audit findings, recommendations, and regulatory observations, ensuring prompt remediation.
Business & Desk Advisory
Provide compliance advice to quantitative researchers, traders, systems engineers, and leadership regarding new strategies, asset classes, or execution venues.
Assess regulatory implications of trading new financial instruments, derivatives, or cross-border market access structures.
Coordinate with external legal advisors, regulatory consultants, and exchange compliance teams when structured guidance is required.
Training & Compliance Culture
Conduct periodic compliance awareness sessions for all trading desk and operational personnel.
Educate employees on market conduct rules, algorithmic trading compliance, information security, and corporate ethics.
Maintain records of employee acknowledgments regarding internal trading policies and confidentiality agreements.

Key Deliverables

Establishing the complete compliance framework for the IFSC proprietary trading entity.
Securing and maintaining necessary IFSCA regulatory permissions and exchange memberships.
Implementing market surveillance, trade monitoring, and risk parameter frameworks.
Building counterparty due diligence and corporate AML controls.
Maintaining a flawless regulatory filing track record and continuous audit readiness.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Mandatory

Atleast 2 years of direct experience in Compliance, Legal & Compliance, or Regulatory Oversight within a regulated financial markets firm, proprietary trading desk, stockbroker, clearing member, or capital markets entity.
Strong understanding of capital markets regulatory frameworks, trading mechanisms, derivative instruments, and exchange operations.
Hands-on experience developing compliance policies, internal surveillance mechanisms, and operational controls.
Practical understanding of regulatory reporting, capital adequacy metrics, and AML regulations.
Exceptional documentation, analytical capability, and communication skills.

Preferred

Professional qualification such as Company Secretary (CS), CA, ICWA, CMA, LL.B., or equivalent financial market certification.
Direct prior experience navigating IFSCA / GIFT City regulatory processes or dealing with Indian financial sector regulators (IFSCA).
Familiarity with electronic trading desk operations, algorithmic trading regulations, or broker-dealer compliance frameworks.
