Position: Consultant Orthodontist
Department: Dental & Maxillofacial Department
Location: Santhi Hospital, Omassery

Reports To: Head of Department / Medical Director
Job Summary
The Consultant Orthodontist is responsible for providing comprehensive orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical management for children, adolescents, and adults. The consultant shall deliver evidence-based orthodontic care while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, ethics, and professionalism. The role also involves interdisciplinary collaboration with Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, and General Dentistry to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage malocclusions, dentofacial deformities, and orthodontic problems.
- Prepare individualized treatment plans based on clinical examination, radiographs, photographs, and digital models.
- Provide fixed orthodontic treatment, removable appliance therapy, functional appliance therapy, interceptive orthodontics, and clear aligner treatment where applicable.
- Monitor treatment progress through regular review appointments.
- Manage orthodontic emergencies and treatment-related complications.
- Plan and coordinate orthognathic surgery cases with the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery team.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in the hospital management system.
- Ensure informed consent is obtained before initiating treatment.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Coordinate treatment with Prosthodontists, Periodontists, Endodontists, Pediatric Dentists, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and General Dentists.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions for complex rehabilitation and surgical cases.
- Refer patients appropriately whenever specialist intervention is required.
Patient Care & Communication
- Explain treatment options, expected outcomes, risks, duration, and financial implications to patients.
- Provide post-treatment instructions and long-term retention protocols.
- Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction through compassionate communication and ethical practice.
- Handle patient concerns and complaints professionally.
Quality & Clinical Governance
- Follow C Kare Health Group clinical protocols, NABH standards, infection control guidelines, and hospital policies.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Report adverse clinical incidents according to hospital policy.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete clinical documentation accurately and promptly.
- Submit required clinical and departmental reports on time.
- Maintain proper scheduling and utilization of orthodontic clinics.
- Ensure appropriate use and maintenance of orthodontic instruments and materials.
- Coordinate with dental assistants, reception staff, and laboratory personnel.
Business Development
- Promote ethical growth of orthodontic services.
- Participate in dental camps, awareness programs, CMEs, and hospital marketing initiatives.
- Support referral development within and outside the hospital.
- Contribute to achieving departmental revenue and patient satisfaction goals.
Education & Professional Development
- Stay updated with current orthodontic techniques, materials, and technologies.
- Attend Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programs and conferences.
- Mentor junior dentists, interns, and dental assistants when required.
Qualifications
- BDS from a recognized institution.
- MDS in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics.
- Valid Kerala State Dental Council registration.
- Minimum 2–5 years of clinical experience as a Consultant Orthodontist (preferred).

- Excellent diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
- Expertise in fixed orthodontics, clear aligners, interceptive orthodontics, and orthognathic case planning.
- Strong communication and patient counseling abilities.

- Proficiency in digital orthodontics and clinical documentation.

- Number of new orthodontic consultations.
- Treatment acceptance/conversion rate.
- Active orthodontic cases under management.

- Clinical documentation accuracy.
- Participation in departmental meetings and clinical audits.
- Contribution to hospital outreach and awareness programs.
Working Hours
As per the consultant duty roster and hospital operational requirements.
Code of Conduct
The Consultant Orthodontist shall adhere to the policies, ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and professional code of conduct of Santhi Hospital, Omassery, managed by C Kare Health Group, and comply with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Pay: From ₹35,000.00 per month
