Educational Qualification
Bachelor's / Diploma in Textiles or a related field preferred
Practical Experience
3-6 years of experience as a Textile Merchandiser, primarily gained in a buying house / buying agency, working on Home Furnishing & Home Textiles categories (e.g. bedding, cushions, curtains, rugs, towels, table linen etc.). Candidates with a background limited to garments, apparel, hardgoods, or other non-textile categories will not be considered. Prior export house experience is not required.
Key Skills
● Prior experience in a buying house handling home furnishing / home textile products such as bedding, cushions, curtains, rugs, or table linen.
● Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers, factories, and internal teams.
● Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
● Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems.
● Willingness and readiness to travel frequently for factory visits, vendor meetings, and product development.
Desirable Skills
● Good understanding of global home textile markets, sourcing, and supply chain management.
● Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Roles and Responsibilities
Product Development:
● Assist in the development of new home textile products, including fabric selection, design, and sample approval.
● Coordinate with designers and production teams to ensure product specifications and customer requirements are met.
Supplier Coordination:
● Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and ensure timely procurement of materials.
● Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers as needed.
Order Management:
● Process and manage customer orders, ensuring all details are accurate and deadlines are met.
● Ensure updated status is received from factories every week and track the progress of orders and update clients on the status.
Quality Control:
● Ensure timeline for inspections are met, coordinating with the QC team to ensure product quality meets customer requirements.
● Travel to supplier/factory locations as required for inspections, approvals, and vendor meetings.
Market Research:
● Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and customer preferences.
● Provide insights and recommendations to improve product offerings and sales strategies.
Monitoring and Reporting:
● Prepare and maintain documentation related to orders, shipments, and invoices.
● Generate reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
