Job Description – Accountant

Position: Accountant
Location: Thamarassery, Kozhikode, Kerala
Experience: 1–5 Years
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant with 1–5 years of experience to manage the organization's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of accounting, GST, TDS, Income Tax, and statutory compliances, along with hands-on experience using Tally/Tally Prime, Zoho Books, and MS Excel.

The ideal candidate should be capable of independently handling routine accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely tax and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, expenses, and journal entries.
Maintain accurate books of accounts and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
Prepare and maintain ledgers, trial balances, bank reconciliations, and financial reports.
Handle GST-related activities, including GST calculations, reconciliations, documentation, and return filing support.
Have good working knowledge of TDS, including deduction, calculation, payment, return filing, and TDS certificates.
Handle and maintain records related to Income Tax and other applicable statutory tax compliances.
Monitor statutory compliance deadlines and ensure timely completion of required filings and payments.
Prepare invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, debit notes, credit notes, and other accounting documents.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Perform regular bank, customer, vendor, and ledger reconciliations.
Assist in payroll accounting and statutory deductions, including TDS, PF, ESI, and other applicable compliances.
Maintain proper financial records and documentation for audit and statutory purposes.
Coordinate with Chartered Accountants, auditors, tax consultants, and statutory authorities when required.
Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciliation issues.
Prepare periodic accounting and financial reports for management review.
Ensure confidentiality and security of financial and business information.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–5 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
Good practical knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and statutory compliances.
Hands-on experience in Tally / Tally Prime.
Experience with Zoho Books or similar accounting software.
Good knowledge of MS Excel and other office applications.
Knowledge of e-invoicing and e-way bills will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of PF, ESI, and payroll-related statutory compliance is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and meet compliance deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with practical experience in complete accounting operations will be preferred.
Should be well-versed with GST, TDS, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements.
Should be comfortable working with Tally Prime, Zoho Books, and MS Excel.
Ability to coordinate effectively with CA, auditors, and external consultants.
Candidates residing in or near Thamarassery, Kozhikode will be preferred.

Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
