Job Description: CBSE Primary Science Teacher

Job Title: Primary Science Teacher (Classes III–V or I–V)

Narayana Etechno school, Namakkal

Reports To: Principal / Primary Coordinator

Department: Primary Section

Job Summary

The Primary Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate science lessons in accordance with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher fosters curiosity, critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and environmental awareness while creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Teaching and Learning

Plan and deliver science lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
Use activity-based, experiential, and inquiry-based teaching methodologies.
Develop students' observation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Integrate real-life examples, experiments, and technology into classroom instruction.
Encourage curiosity and a love for science through hands-on learning.

2. Curriculum Planning

Prepare annual plans, lesson plans, and teaching-learning materials.
Maintain continuity and progression in learning outcomes.
Integrate interdisciplinary learning wherever appropriate.

3. Student Assessment

Conduct formative and summative assessments as per CBSE guidelines.
Maintain accurate records of student progress.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support.

4. Classroom Management

Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
Ensure student safety during practical activities and demonstrations.
Promote collaborative learning and respectful behavior.

5. Student Development

Foster scientific temper, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
Encourage participation in science exhibitions, quizzes, and school projects.
Support the holistic development of every child.

6. Parent Communication

Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.
Address academic concerns professionally and constructively.

7. Professional Responsibilities

Participate in school meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching practices.
Stay updated with CBSE guidelines and current educational trends.
Perform additional duties assigned by the Principal or Primary Coordinator.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Science (B.Sc.) or equivalent.
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), as applicable.
CTET or State TET qualification may be preferred or required, depending on school and regulatory requirements.
Prior teaching experience in a CBSE or reputed school is desirable.
