Job Description – Program Coordinator (Data Science)

School of Data Science & Business Intelligence (SDBI) – Pune
Program: B.Sc. Data Science (Minor in Cybersecurity)
Campus: MES Abasaheb Garware College, Pune
Affiliation: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)

Position Summary

SDBI is seeking a highly organized, student-centric, and execution-oriented Program Coordinator to manage the academic and operational delivery of the B.Sc. Data Science (Minor in Cybersecurity) program. The role will serve as the primary link between students, faculty, industry mentors, college administration, and SDBI management to ensure a seamless learning experience and successful student outcomes. The program combines Data Science, AI/ML, and Cybersecurity with a strong emphasis on practical learning, internships, and industry readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate day-to-day academic operations of the B.Sc. Data Science program.
Manage class schedules, timetables, faculty allocation, and academic calendars.
Ensure smooth delivery of lectures, labs, workshops, guest sessions, and assessments.
Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and engagement.
Support curriculum implementation and continuous academic quality improvement.

Student Success & Engagement

Act as the primary point of contact for students and parents.
Conduct student orientation, mentoring sessions, and academic counseling.
Track student progress and proactively address academic or behavioral concerns.
Organize student activities, hackathons, competitions, industry visits, and project showcases.
Foster a positive and high-performance learning culture.

Faculty & Industry Coordination

Coordinate with faculty members for course delivery, assessments, and academic planning.
Manage communication with industry experts, guest speakers, and mentors.
Support internship and project coordination activities.
Ensure faculty and students have access to required academic resources.

Internship & Placement Support

Coordinate internship opportunities and industry projects.
Track internship completion and student feedback.
Work closely with the placement team to prepare students for recruitment activities.
Support resume-building workshops, mock interviews, and career development initiatives.

Administration & Compliance

Maintain student records, academic documentation, and program reports.
Ensure compliance with SPPU, college, and institutional academic requirements.
Prepare MIS reports and dashboards for management review.
Coordinate examination-related activities and result processing.

Stakeholder Management

Liaise with SDBI leadership, Garware College administration, faculty, students, and parents.
Handle escalations professionally and ensure timely resolution.
Represent the program during admissions events, seminars, and outreach activities.

Desired Candidate Profile Education

Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred in Management, Education, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

3–5 years of experience in academic coordination, program management, higher education administration, edtech, or training organizations.
Experience managing undergraduate programs is preferred.
Exposure to technology, data science, cybersecurity, or STEM education programs will be an advantage.
