We are looking for a technically strong and detail-oriented MEP Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department. The role demands full ownership of MEP design deliverables — from concept to construction drawings — across Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection disciplines. The candidate must be proficient in industry-standard design tools, capable of producing accurate BOQs, coordinating with site and procurement teams, and ensuring all designs comply with applicable codes and standards.
This is a hands-on design execution role that requires zero tolerance for errors, strong documentation discipline, and the ability to work under project deadlines across multiple concurrent projects.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Electrical Design
- Prepare single-line diagrams (SLD), schematic drawings, panel layouts, and cable routing drawings for LV and HV systems.
- Design power distribution systems including load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and fault level studies using ETAP or equivalent.
- Prepare lighting design calculations and layouts using Dialux / Relux for interior and exterior applications.
- Design earthing, lightning protection, and grounding systems as per IS 3043 and IEC standards.
- Prepare fire alarm, public address (PA), CCTV, access control, and BMS schematic layouts for MEP coordination.
- Design LV panels, MCC panels, PDB/DB schedules and cable schedules.
B. HVAC Design
- Prepare HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and duct layout drawings.
- Design AHU, FCU, VRF, and precision cooling system layouts for commercial, industrial, and data centre projects.
- Prepare duct sizing calculations (velocity and static pressure method) and equipment schedules.
- Coordinate HVAC design with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines.
C. Plumbing & Fire Protection Design
- Prepare domestic water supply, drainage, and sanitary drawings for high-rise and commercial buildings.
- Design firefighting systems — sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, and fire suppression layouts as per NBC / NFPA standards.
- Prepare pump sizing, pipe sizing, and pressure calculation sheets for plumbing and fire systems.
- Design STP/ETP/WTP systems and rainwater harvesting layouts as required.
D. BIM Modelling & Drawing Production
- Develop 3D MEP models in Revit MEP for all disciplines — Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection.
- Perform multi-discipline clash detection using Navisworks and coordinate resolution with structural and architectural models.
- Produce coordinated shop drawings and construction drawings from BIM models.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision logs, and design submission trackers.
- Prepare as-built drawings on project completion and ensure all documentation is archived.
E. BOQ Preparation & Cost Engineering
- Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for all MEP disciplines from tender drawings and specifications.
- Conduct precise quantity take-offs aligned with project BOQ structures and rate schedules.
- Support the QS and Billing team with technical material descriptions, specifications, and measurement clarifications.
- Assist the Engineering Head with value engineering alternatives to achieve cost optimisation.
- Provide technical documentation for variation orders and extra item claims.
F. Technical Approvals & Documentation
- Prepare material submittals, technical datasheets, and product approval documents for client and consultant review.
- Track and follow up on all pending technical approvals with consultants, clients, and authorities.
- Prepare method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and technical specifications.
- Maintain a complete technical submittal register for all project disciplines.
G. Site Coordination & Engineering Support
- Provide continuous engineering support to site execution teams for drawing interpretation and technical clarifications.
- Visit project sites periodically to verify design intent is followed during execution.
- Identify and resolve on-site design conflicts promptly with updated drawings or technical notes.
- Coordinate with procurement team on material specifications, approved makes list, and technical equivalents.
H. Quality, Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all designs conform to IS codes, IEC standards, NBC, NFPA, and client-specified standards.
- Maintain zero-error drawing culture — all drawings must pass internal review before client submission.
- Participate in internal design audits and implement corrections without delay.
- Ensure design outputs are properly checked, stamped, and version-controlled before release.
