Role description

The Role

We are seeking a skilled POS Application Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team, responsible for delivering high-quality application and cloud infrastructure support.

This role requires a strong understanding of retail and in-store technologies, along with a results-driven mindset. Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems and awareness of the evolving landscape of store technology will be highly advantageous.

As part of a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will have the opportunity to work with modern technologies while continuously learning and contributing to improvements in our infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring reliable service across all store locations and actively contribute to the DevOps culture within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain POS applications across production and non-production environments
Handle software deployments, including new releases and bug fixes
Support configuration management from development through to production
Troubleshoot and resolve Windows-based system issues
Collaborate with SOE (3rd line support) engineers for root cause analysis
Contribute to maintaining high system availability across all store locations
Create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation
Support and enhance DevOps practices within the Platform Engineering team

Essential Skills

Strong working knowledge of SQL (MariaDB or MSSQL)
Advanced expertise in PowerShell scripting
Hands-on experience with PS App Deploy Toolkit or similar tools
Experience with deployment tools such as Tanium Deploy, SCCM, or equivalent
Solid experience in Windows troubleshooting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills

Desirable Skills

Experience in retail technology and environments
Exposure to POS solutions (preferably Enactor)
Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
Experience across a broad range of retail IT systems
Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
Experience in planning and executing deployments across large-scale environments (1200+ machines across 200+ sites)
Understanding of how retail systems integrate within a larger enterprise landscape

This is a collaborative role that requires regular interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ability to clearly communicate complex issues and contribute effectively within a team is essential.
