Full job description

1. Patient Care Management

Assess patients’ health conditions and develop nursing care plans.
Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments safely.
Monitor vital signs and patient progress.
Assist doctors during examinations and medical procedures.
Provide emergency and critical care when required.
Ensure infection control and patient safety protocols are followed.

2. Supervision and Leadership

Supervise junior nurses, nursing assistants, and support staff.
Allocate duties and prepare shift schedules.
Guide and mentor newly recruited nurses.
Ensure nursing practices comply with hospital policies and standards.
Handle conflicts or issues within the nursing team.

3. Clinical Coordination

Coordinate with doctors, pharmacists, lab technicians, and other departments.
Ensure timely investigations, reports, and treatments for patients.
Maintain continuity of patient care during shift handovers.
Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.

4. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate patient records and nursing notes.
Prepare reports on patient conditions and incidents.
Ensure proper documentation of medications and procedures.
Monitor inventory of medicines and medical supplies.

5. Training and Quality Assurance

Conduct orientation and training programs for nursing staff.
Educate patients and families about treatment plans and home care.
Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
Ensure adherence to ethical and legal nursing standards.

6. Administrative Responsibilities

Assist nursing superintendent or ward in-charge in administrative duties.
Monitor ward cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and resource utilization.
Ensure adequate staffing during shifts.
Participate in audits and inspections.
