About the department:
You will be joining our Finance and Procurement Global Business Services (GBS) team in Bangalore. Established in 2007, Finance and Procurement GBS supports various finance functions for Novo Nordisk globally. As part of this role, you will be part of our Finance Operations team, which is responsible for process improvements across Finance Operations including R2R, O2C, P2P.With 180 employees based in Denmark, 300 employees in India, and globally 500 people working in finance operation, we are a strategic partner to the execution of the company’s strategy for the International Operations. The position
As a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer, you will design and operate the data platform that enables finance to move faster, smarter and with greater confidence. You will play a hands-on technical role while also acting as a functional lead, helping to establish a strong data & analytics capability in our Global Business Services (GBS) centre in Bangalore as a true partner to our HQ team in Denmark.
Day-to-day your tasks will include:
- Design, implement and operate scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT process-es on Databricks
- Work with raw source systems, data modelling, transformation logic and or-chestration to ensure timely, accurate finance data delivery
- Implement best practices for data quality, observability, performance and cost optimization in a cloud environment
- Support deployment, CI/CD, and production incident resolution
- In collaboration with your colleagues, leading and defining the end-to-end ar-chitecture of our data pipeline solutions
- Taking the role of developer, tester, integration and deployment specialist on data pipelines
- Driving continuous improvement using behaviour-driven design principles, DevOps practices, and awareness of compliance requirements
- Being a functional lead in establishing data & analytics team in GBS, a true partner to the team in HQ Denmark
- Coaching and sharing knowledge with colleagues through demos, co-development and sparring, ensuring that expertise is spread across the team to enable collaborative ways of working
- Becoming a trusted partner for line of business, understanding their processes and challenges that allows you to design and implement high quality, valuable data solutions
Qualifications
We're looking for an experienced data engineer who combines deep technical expertise with the curiosity and collaborative mindset to make finance data truly valuable. You'll bring with you:
- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, software development or a related field, with at least 7 years’ experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, notebooks, jobs)
- Proficiency in Python, SQL and familiarity with Data Engineering frameworks
- Experience with data modelling, ingestion patterns, and orchestration tools
- Knowledge of cloud platform services (Azure/AWS/GCP) relevant to Data-bricks
- Experience with data observability tools, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices
- Experience with SAP ecosystem, e.g. S4 and BDC (or SAP BW/BW4 HANA)
- The ability to understand complex technical matters, form an educated opin-ion, and communicate with impact to a variety of stakeholders with different levels of technical expertise
- Experience working with a regulated industry would be an advantage
