We are looking for a Tech Lead who is strong in backend engineering, has hands-on experience with Java, Angular, and AWS, and can lead technical development while actively contributing to the codebase.
As a Tech Lead, you will drive the technical development of Webomates products end-to-end — with a primary focus on backend architecture and development using Java and AWS, and enough frontend fluency in Angular to guide and review UI-layer work when needed.
You will work closely with product, QA, and engineering teams to design scalable solutions, solve complex technical problems, review code, and ensure high-quality delivery across the stack.
Using AI-powered coding and development tools effectively is a must. We are looking for someone who embraces AI to improve development speed, code quality, debugging, testing, and overall engineering productivity.
- Lead backend development and technical implementation using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable backend services and APIs.
- Take ownership of backend architecture, technical decisions, and engineering best practices.
- Work with AWS services to build, deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-based applications.
- Guide and review frontend work in Angular, and contribute directly when needed.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Identify and resolve complex technical issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, AI, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Mentor developers and provide technical guidance across backend and frontend.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technology and design decisions.
- Ensure solutions are designed with scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability in mind.
- Work hands-on with the codebase rather than functioning only as a people/technical manager.
- Leverage AI coding assistants and developer tools to accelerate development, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and testing.
- Stay current with modern development practices, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted software development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java
- Strong experience with Spring Boot
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs / Microservices
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and design patterns
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software design principles
- Experience with AWS and cloud-based application development
- Experience with Git and modern software development practices
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience using AI-powered coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar
- Ability to use AI effectively for code generation, debugging, refactoring, test creation, documentation, and development acceleration
- Willingness to adopt AI-first engineering practices and continuously improve development productivity
- Working knowledge of Angular
- Understanding of TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Ability to make frontend changes and contribute to UI development when required
Note: Backend and AWS expertise are the primary requirements for this role. Angular/frontend knowledge is a strong plus but not mandatory.
