Position: Business Development Associate (BDA)
Department: Business Development / Academic Publishing

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and target-oriented Business Development Associate (BDA) to join our team.

The BDA will be responsible for connecting with PhD scholars, research scholars, professors, and academic professionals, understanding their research publication requirements, and explaining the relevant services offered by Shodh Sagar Publications.

The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, confidence in speaking with academic professionals, and a strong interest in sales and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Connect with PhD scholars, research scholars, professors, and faculty members through calls, WhatsApp, email, and other professional communication channels.
Understand the scholar's research topic, publication requirements, target journal, and timeline.
Explain Shodh Sagar Publications' academic publication and research-support services.
Generate new leads through outbound calling, digital leads, referrals, and other business-development channels.
Follow up with prospective scholars and convert qualified leads into customers.
Maintain regular communication with existing scholars and understand their additional publication requirements.
Provide appropriate information about journal selection, manuscript preparation, formatting, submission support, and related services.
Coordinate with the editorial/research team to ensure that client requirements are communicated accurately.
Maintain and update lead, follow-up, conversion, and customer records in CRM/Excel.
Meet assigned monthly and quarterly sales targets.
Build long-term professional relationships with scholars and academic institutions.
Handle customer queries professionally and resolve or escalate issues when required.
Keep track of leads, follow-ups, payments, service status, and customer feedback.
Stay updated on academic publishing trends, journal requirements, and research-publication processes.

Required Skills

Excellent communication and convincing skills.
Strong Hindi and English communication skills.
Good interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
Sales-oriented and target-driven mindset.
Comfortable making frequent outbound calls.
Strong follow-up and negotiation skills.
Basic knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets and CRM tools.
Ability to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate services.
Good time-management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in any discipline.
Experience in B2B sales, inside sales, educational sales, academic publishing, ed-tech, or research services is preferred.
Candidates with knowledge of PhD research, academic journals, Scopus, Web of Science, peer review, DOI, or academic publishing will have an advantage.
Freshers with good communication and sales skills can also apply.
