Full job description

Overview:

Axria is a vertically integrated real estate development firm headquartered in New Jersey. The firm has completed over $1 billion in development value, 100+ projects and has over 50 years of experience across the Mid-Atlantic Region. You will join a vibrant team of over a 100 people working across the real estate development spectrum. The role will be fully remote with occasional trips and conferences.

Position Overview:

Axria is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and budgeting activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and in-depth accounting knowledge to support the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis and Reporting

Analyze financial statements and prepare accurate financial reports for management.
Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
Assist management in financial decision-making through detailed reporting and analysis.

Accounting Operations

Oversee daily accounting operations, including:
Accounts Payable (AP)
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Bank Reconciliations
Journal Entries
Ledger Maintenance
Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.

Compliance and Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, GAAP, company policies, and statutory regulations.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal financial controls.
Assist with internal and external audit preparations and documentation.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Provide financial insights and recommendations for future planning.
Monitor budget utilization and report deviations.

Staff Supervision

Supervise and guide junior accountants and bookkeeping staff.
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
Support team development and maintain accounting process efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist in tax preparation and statutory filings.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities.
Support process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance department.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CA Inter / CPA / CMA qualification preferred.
Minimum 4–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience in handling audits and compliance.
Leadership and team management abilities.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
QuickBooks knowledge mandatory
