We are a growing mining and industrial group operating in Central Africa, managing a mixed fleet of Light Motor Vehicles (LMV), Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) and earthmoving / construction machinery to support our mining and plant operations. Our garage facility is responsible for ensuring maximum fleet availability, safe operations and cost‑effective maintenance in a challenging African environment
Position Summary
The Garage Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of the workshop, including maintenance and repair of LMV, HMV and earthmoving equipment, and effective management of spare parts and consumables. The role includes planning preventive maintenance, supervising mechanics and technicians, controlling maintenance costs and ensuring high equipment availability to meet production targets.whatuni+2
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and oversee all repair and maintenance activities for LMV, HMV and earthmoving / construction equipment (HEMM).peoplehawk+1

- Supervise and guide mechanics, electricians and helpers; allocate jobs, monitor progress and check quality of work.whatuni+1

- Manage spares and consumables: forecasting, indenting, ordering, inventory control, and coordination with purchase / store teams to ensure parts availability without over‑stocking.linkedin+2
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, breakdowns, spares consumption, fuel and lubricants, and workshop reports.msf+1
- Monitor and control maintenance costs, analyze frequent failures, carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.dwfire+1

- Ensure proper upkeep, calibration and safety of workshop tools, lifting equipment and other infrastructure.msf+1

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Automobile Engineering from a recognized institute.
- OR ITI in relevant trade with strong technical background plus more than 10 years of hands‑on shop‑floor / workshop management experience (LMV / HMV / earthmoving equipment).
Required Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in an automobile workshop / garage handling LMV, HMV and earthmoving / construction machinery.peoplehawk+1
- Strong experience in troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of diesel vehicles, tippers, trucks, loaders, excavators or similar equipment.autotechrecruit+1
- Proven experience in spares and inventory management, including forecasting, ordering, stock level control and vendor follow‑up.engineeristic+1
- Experience in managing and supervising a team of mechanics / technicians in a busy workshop environment.whatuni+1

Age and Health Requirements
- Preferred age group: 30 to 50 years.
- Should be medically fit, with no chronic diseases, and willing to work in a remote African mining / industrial environment and in hot, humid conditions.msf

- Good record‑keeping, reporting and basic computer skills (email, Excel or maintenance systems).
- Cost consciousness, negotiation skills with vendors and focus on minimizing downtime and maintenance cost.
- Basic English communication; knowledge of French / local African languages will be an added advantage.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: approximately 1200–1800 USD per month, depending on experience, qualifications and interview performance.
- Other benefits such as accommodation, food, local transport, medical and leave will be as per company policy and discussed during the interview.
Work Location
- Site‑based role in Central Africa (DR Congo / other African country), at a mining / industrial project garage / workshop.
