About the Role

We are looking for passionate and driven individuals who are excited to inspire the next generation of scientists, astronomers, and innovators.

As a STEM Educator – Astronomy & Astrophysics, you will go beyond traditional classroom teaching to create immersive, hands-on learning experiences in astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, and space science. Your role will involve guiding students through exciting scientific explorations, observational astronomy sessions, practical experiments, and research-inspired STEM activities.

You will simplify complex cosmic concepts and transform them into engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences that spark curiosity and critical thinking among students from Grades 5–10.

This role combines education, scientific exploration, mentorship, and experiential learning to make space science approachable, interactive, and inspiring.

Delivering STEM Through Astronomy & Astrophysics

At Young Innovators, we believe STEM education is best delivered through practical exploration and real-world applications rather than theoretical lectures alone.

As an Astronomy & Astrophysics Educator, you will:

Introduce students to concepts such as galaxies, stars, black holes, planetary systems, cosmology, and space exploration.
Conduct observational astronomy sessions using telescopes and sky-mapping tools.
Lead hands-on activities, simulations, and model-building exercises to explain astrophysical phenomena.
Facilitate inquiry-based learning that encourages students to observe, question, analyze, and discover.
Create memorable learning experiences through sky-watch sessions, astronomy workshops, and STEM projects.

Key Responsibilities1. Classroom Delivery & Student EngagementTeach & Inspire

Deliver engaging and interactive STEM sessions focused on Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, and Space Science.
Make complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting for students through practical demonstrations and storytelling-based teaching.

Hands-on Learning Facilitation

Conduct experiments, astronomy simulations, observational activities, and model-building sessions.
Lead students through inquiry-based and exploratory learning experiences.

Cultivate Scientific Thinking

Encourage creativity, analytical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving through real-world scientific applications.
Foster a classroom culture where students confidently ask questions and explore ideas.

2. Astronomy Observation & Technical FacilitationSky Observation Sessions

Organize and conduct evening sky-watch sessions and overnight stargazing camps.
Guide students in identifying celestial objects, constellations, planets, lunar features, and deep-sky objects.

Equipment Handling

Operate and manage telescopes, sky-mapping software, astronomy applications, and educational planetarium tools.
Ensure proper setup, maintenance, and safe handling of observational equipment.

Scientific Demonstrations

Design and execute astronomy models, simulations, and visual demonstrations to explain cosmic phenomena such as:
Stellar evolution
Phases of the Moon
Eclipses
Gravity and orbital mechanics
Structure of the universe
Space exploration technologies

3. Mentorship & Student DevelopmentGuide Young Innovators

Mentor students during STEM projects, astronomy research activities, and model-building sessions.
Encourage students to think independently and explore scientific ideas creatively.

Differentiated Learning

Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and age groups.
Support students at different skill levels to ensure inclusive and effective learning.

Maintain Safe Learning Environments

Ensure all practical activities, observational sessions, and workshops are conducted safely and responsibly.

4. Program Execution & CollaborationCollaborate for Impact

Work closely with educators, curriculum developers, and school coordinators to ensure smooth program delivery.

Session Planning

Prepare lesson materials, activity kits, observational resources, and classroom setups before sessions.

Track Student Progress

Monitor student participation, engagement, and learning outcomes.
Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and leadership teams.

Work Structure

Work Timings: Typically between 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM depending on school schedules and travel requirements.
Work Days: Monday to Saturday (6 days/week)
Travel: School visits, workshops, observation events, and STEM camps may require travel.
Observation Sessions: Occasional evening and overnight astronomy events.
